I wanted to do a deep dive into how long the first stretch of the Straw Hat's voyage into the Grand Line takes. It turns out there are significant differences between the anime and the manga timeline. While Oda is very precise, giving us an exact amount of days between every event (except for 3 times), the anime opts for a more disconnected feel, making canon events that take place on the same day in the manga happen on separate days so they can afford to put filler.
I went out and mapped these changes, inserting fillers, specials and movies wherever they don't contradict the anime chronology.
Let's start with the manga timeline (this is based on this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/1q03ur)

As you can see, in only three instances we do get some definitive downtime. In all three of these instances, the Straw Hats didn't have a set next destination, but were just following their log pose.
Now let's look at the anime timeline, that includes specials, filler arcs and movies.
I decided not to include movie 06 (baron omatsuri) specifically as that feels so disconnected to the rest of the story tonally that I can't consider it canon to this timeline, although I'll tell you where it takes place if you want to include it in your headcanon. (It's still a great movie and much better than all the ones i did include, i would only watch movies 02 and 04).
Also, episode 61 is the end of the Warship Island filler arc and the beggining of Reverse Mountain. I chose to separate the episode in half at the ad-break eyecatchers to include more content in-between, although a character from Warship Island shows up during the ascent up Reverse Mountain, as he was hiding on the ship. Since Nami just murders him like three seconds later we can either ignore him or imagine he was hiding on the ship for 16+ days, which honestly makes it even funnier.
Also, Special 01 is missing because I think it takes place between Arlong Park and Loguetown (Technically Usopp has his new goggles for like one scene but Zoro doesn't have his new swords).
Movie 03 doesn't make sense in the timeline so I didn't include it.
The football and baseball featurettes obviously can't fit the timeline.
People on the internet say you can't really skip Movie 05 if you watch Movie 04 but that's just not true

Watching the first (Toei) One Piece Movie. It looks great as it's the only cel-animated One Piece project by Toei, but it feels very claustrophobic. After a quick search, i found out it was indeed originally made in 4:3 and then cropped to 16:9. Is there any uncropped version around?
From what i can see, both american releases by funimation and japanese dvds have been cropped to 16:9, but the original broadcast aspect ratio was 4:3. there is absolutely nowhere on the internet where these can be found. are they rotting in some archive in japan and is there any chance to get them in the future, if not by official release (unlikely since the show is in a bit of a licensing limbo) at least by fan effort?
