How old is my "new" C-Melody sax?
It is a Buescher, Low Pitch, S/N 141385. The USA Horn lookup tool puts it at 1912. Is it really that old? I thought the standardization to A=440 was more like the 1920 and 1930s. So I guessed it much newer than 1912. How can I tell it the mouthpiece is an alto or C-Melody? Seller is not a player, and "had been told" it is a C-melody mouthpiece.
EDIT - It is clearly a 1923 Buescher. I used the S/N table wrong. Thanks for the help and insights.
