The Triumph Italia 2000 project was conceived by the Italian Triumph importer Salvatore Ruffino. The car used a complete TR3 chassis supplied by Triumph, shipped to Italy where it was bodied by Vignale in steel to a design by Giovanni Michelotti. 330 were built between 1958 and 1963. 1939 Bugatti Type 57C Vanvooren Cabriolet.Commissioned by the French government as a wedding gift for Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, the future Shah of Iran. The body by Vanvooren featured fully skirted fenders, a disappearing top and a windscreen that could be lowered into the cowl. Personal photo.
