Croatia 4 day kayaking adventure?

Hello everyone,

My friends and I would like to take a short kayaking trip to Croatia (or a similar location no farther than 1000 km / 600 mi from Košice, Slovakia).

We plan to go on the sea, do some island hopping, and camp on remote islands or somewhere along the coast.

Does anyone know a good location for such a trip, or can you recommend a good kayak rental in the area (sea kayaks)?

I understand that wild camping is “illegal” in Croatia. From what I’ve read, Croatians are very strict about campers and give large fines even for sleeping in a car. Does anyone have real experience with this?

By camping I mean setting up two tents for one night on a small uninhabited island or a remote beach, possibly with a small campfire (yes, I’m aware of the risks of open fire).

Thank you for your answers and help.

Best regards,

Filip

7-10 kayaking trip in the EU?

Hey guys,

My friends and I are planning a 7–10 day kayaking trip for next year, and I was wondering if any of you could suggest a nice location, route, or itinerary.

Some of our requirements for the trip:

- It can be sea, lake, fjord, river kayaking, or a combination (preferably a river).

- Beautiful scenery, preferably in a remote area with few people.

- Ideally in Northern Europe. I was thinking about Finland, Norway, or Iceland, but I'm open to any destination in EU.

- We'd like to paddle continuously for 7–10 days (we don't mind hiking short sections if needed).

- We can handle rapids up to Class III.

- We'd like to camp along the way (ideally somewhere with few camping restrictions).

- As for kayaks, we're considering buying the Itiwit X500. If kayak rentals are available at the location, that would be even better—we'd rent instead of buying.

I recently watched a kayaking documentary about Patagonia, and now I'm dying to go on an adventure like that. 😄 For now, though, we'd like to stay a bit closer to home.

Experience with Decathlon - Expedition X900 (Inflatable kayak)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you have experience with this kayak or something similar?

Me and couple of friends recently going on short 2-3 day kayak advantures. We enjoy both kayaking and outdoor camping, so we usually just pick river, rent kayaks, go with flow down the river while sleeping in tenets overnight. We do I - III class rapids. We try to rent kayaks touring / sea kayaks (my favourite yet Nifty 430).

We are from Slovakia and we already explored options close by, so we want to push it further. Fristly destinations in EU, later maybe Finland, Patagonia, Alaska, Island, etc.

The biggest issue with planning trips are kayak rentals. We want to go deep into wilderness and there are no rentals. We decided, it would be the best to buy our own kayaks.

Now come the challange. Should we buy hardshell sea kayaks or something as X900?

X900 has its flaws, but I find it incredible. You can just stuff it into bag and fly to other side of planet. Firstly I was laughting at inflatable kayak, but as I went trought details, it seems like very good deal on the paper.

Obviously, hard shell sea kayak is better, but I cant imagine how do you transport it, if you cant take it with car. Having kayak in bag and not being limited by transport just seems like a wet dream.

Thanks for your answers.

Kayaking trip - Bosna i Hercegovina - Best river?

Hey guys,

My friends and I are planning a kayaking trip to Bosna i Hercegovina this summer, and we're looking for advice from experienced kayakers.

There will be 3–4 of us. Our current plan is to rent kayaks at point A, paddle to point B, and then arrange transportation back to point A.

We're looking for a route that would take approximately 4–5 days to complete. We expect to stay in campsites along the way. Some of us prefer touring/expedition kayaks rather than creek kayaks, so we'll probably use a mix of two creek boats and two expedition kayaks.

Based on our previous experience, we can comfortably paddle 15–25 km per day. Therefore, we're looking for a route that is roughly 80–100 km long in total. We're hoping for a combination of beautiful scenery, a relaxed atmosphere, and some adventure and adrenaline.

We're not very experienced whitewater kayakers, so we'd prefer rivers in the Class I to III- range.

Could anyone recommend a suitable river and a specific route? I'd also appreciate any advice regarding kayak rentals, shuttle services, campsites, or anything else that might be useful.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Filip
