Federal Tax Receipts as a Percent of GDP, 1930-2025. No matter your views on tax policy, you have to admit that despite different tax policies, tax revenue as a percentage of GDP is fairly constant.
I am a professional economist and I find this interesting. It's more of a topic of discussion amongst economists. Why is this? What causes this? I'll be happy to discuss possible reasons, but emphasize I will not engage in politics.
