Render multiple Reaper projects automatically

Hi community! I wanted to share with you a program I built to export multiple reaper projects automatically.

I had many REAPER projects stored across different folders and subfolders, and I wanted an easy way to keep updated renders of all of them. Opening every project manually, waiting for it to load, selecting the render settings and exporting it one by one took too much time.

My solution was to build an application where I can:

  1. Choose a folder containing my REAPER projects.
  2. Scan that folder and all of its subfolders.
  3. Select the projects I want to render.
  4. Choose an output folder.
  5. Choose WAV, MP3 320 kbps or MP3 128 kbps.
  6. Render the complete selection automatically.

The application recreates the same folder structure inside the output folder.

For example:

Source folder
├── Album 1
│ ├── Song A
│ │ └── Song A.rpp
│ └── Song B
│ └── Song B.rpp
└── Demos
    └── Demo 1.rpp

The rendered files are organized like this:

Output folder
├── Album 1
│ ├── Song A
│ │ └── Song A.mp3
│ └── Song B
│ └── Song B.mp3
└── Demos
    └── Demo 1.mp3

Some of my older projects could not open unattended because a plug-in or Kontakt library was missing. REAPER displayed an error message and waited indefinitely for someone to press OK.

To solve that problem, I added Windows dialog handling that detects common missing plug-in messages, acknowledges them automatically and allows REAPER to continue loading and rendering the project.

When a project still cannot be rendered normally, the application can retry a temporary copy with all FX offline, record what happened in the log and continue with the rest of the batch.

I am sharing the application for free in case it is useful to other REAPER users with a similar workflow
