Bring back forced subs for all non English language scenes in movies I watch in English.

As stated. All streaming sites need to change this. It was never an issue until the last few years. They need to adjust the tracks to properly show the same way a movie was shown in theatres. Just finished watching Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and it is so damn annoying when I know that all of the Russian language scenes and the scenes where Ethan is lip reading had the proper subtitles on the screen. It is so annoying. I refuse to have English subs on during English scenes, considering that is the language I’m watching the movie or tv show in! The only reason I can think of is the weird people who only watch with subtitles complained that there are double subs during those scenes. Easy enough to just get over it. I don’t want them unless I need them. Ergo only during non English speaking scenes. I also noticed that in MI2 they had forced subs anytime a word was on the screen. Example the rocket that shoots his message glasses at the beginning prompts something like S5-7 (labeled on side of rocket). So these movies clearly have some forced subs and need to be updated to properly include them when they are required while watching in English.

FYI I don’t need to see another person state the following: “sometimes it’s an artistic decision”. This happens in one movie in a thousand. The only one I’ve ever came across it is the 13th warrior and how he begins to understand the language of the other characters partway through the movie.

Random thought

So I’m rewatching jackass 2, it’s been a year or two since I watched it. But I was thinking at about the skate park gauntlet portion. I wonder if these stunts are done very safely and professionally that they make the fuckup part of the plan from the beginning. A few of the professional athletes fall and then always seem to toss their hands into the face /head. Even when it appeared they didn’t come close to hitting their heads. Then have ones that happen to go wrong from time to time.

I know I’m probably way off. But needed to inquire in case I’m not alone with that thought.

Newer movies trying less?

Has anyone else had this same thought? Just finished watching “send help” and “caught stealing”. Both movies I was enjoying until they each took a random left turn in tone and storytelling. I honestly feel like there is zero critiques to a first draft of a story and they just say whatever let’s make this, regardless if it makes sense as a cohesive story.

It honestly feels like they’re making these movies for TikTok audiences who are unable to pay attention to a full story from start to finish. So they throw in jumps to bring those minds back in. After all’s said and done they just remember the jump points and nothing about how unnatural the story and tone jumps around.
