Subtitles translation issue

I am watching Community, Season 6, Episode 6, with Norwegian subtitles, and every time they refer to a Black person, the subtitles use a very offensive term that isn’t used in the original English dialogue.

Who would I contact to report this subtitle/translation issue?

History is repeating itself — streaming is slowly turning back into cable TV

Remember when we used to watch our favorite shows on TV and just accept that there would be ads in between?

Then streaming came along, and one of the biggest appeals was: pay a subscription, watch what you want, and no annoying commercial breaks.

And now here we are again.

I’m watching Prime, already paying for the subscription, and suddenly there are ads in between shows — sometimes around a minute and a half long.

So basically… we escaped traditional TV, paid for streaming services to avoid ads, and now streaming services are slowly becoming traditional TV again.

History really does repeat itself.

Middle episodes of an otherwise free show require payment?

We started watching Mrs Davis here in Germany only to discover that although episodes 1-2 and 5-8 are included in Prime Video, the three in between cost €2.99 each. I have never seen this on any streaming service before. Is this likely intentional or a configuration issue on Amazon's part?

I can't seem to find a customer service link for Prime Video in Germany, just some forum on the Amazon website.

Hot take: sterling point is nepo white girl problems

I just watched sterling point after seeing it all over the media being heralded as the most amazing show ever. I will give it to the show that it doesn’t feel as scripted and you can tell when the actors are riffing. They do a great job with the soundtrack and creating horrifically awkward vibes.

That being said I do not relate or find Annie’s struggles compelling at all. Her resentment towards her dad that we see episode 6 feels very out of nowhere. Her crying about her mother and saying something has been robbed from her when she can’t even remember her but seeming to be completely emotionally okay with the biological parents she has abandoning her seems very very strange. She comes from a place of incredible privilege and at this point it is hardly addressed in lieu of her being pined after and comforted every 5 minutes by a male love interest. Ramona is the far more compelling of the two. I would find myself less peripherally annoyed if the show was focused on her. She’s navigating losing the only parental figure she knows is now an orphan and has many secrets hiding from her. Instead we get nepo baby tears for an hour and very little completing behind it.

It just doesn’t really seem like we have any pre establishment of character shits of her struggling or actually navigating things weird.

Prime's actual superpower is the show nobody expected to be good. What's the one that surprised you?

Every other service has its prestige tentpole. Prime keeps winning with stuff that looked like a hard pass on the thumbnail and then turned out great. The Boys was that for me, I ignored it for two seasons assuming it was edgy superhero stuff for the sake of it, and it turned out to be one of the sharpest shows on TV. Fallout too, video game show, zero expectations, one of the best things I watched that year. So what's yours, the Prime show you almost didn't click on that ended up being a favorite? Bonus points for the deep cuts nobody talks about, I keep hearing Patriot and I still haven't started it.

WTF is this nonsense?!

Is it just me, or does anyone else find this confusing and suspicious? I clicked the “Learn more at” link, and while it does mostly explain this new “Home Region” setting, it doesn’t say why it’s been implemented. My intuition is signaling there’s something nefarious going on behind the scenes.

Shouldn't have to watch multiple ads just trying to find out where left off watching in an episode

Rewatching reacher last night fell asleep halfway through one of the episodes. So fast forwarding through the episode trying to find out where I left off. I have to watch every single ad break even though I'm just fast forwarding through. There should be a 5-minute cool down at least before you have to watch another ad no matter what you are doing. They need to fix this

Sterling Point is such a huge disappointment to me!

I am watching Sterling point on Amazon prime and it was so hyped up on Instagram by everyone who loved Amazon Book adaptations. I have been watching it for like two days now, and I am a binge watch and I’m not able to complete it. Last three episodes are so much difficult to even watch. Script is over romantic dramatic, over sadness portrayed by the lead actress, and everybody around her.

And, the lead actress desperately looks like young Anne Hathaway. The Way she looked, the Way, she did her make up, the way she talked, so I just feel whenever I’m watching her I feel like I am seeing a wannabe, Anne Hathaway, is anybody else facing the same, or is it just me?

It’s so boring

Is there any way to turn off the autoplay/auto suggestions after a movie ends?

I can't tell you how many times I finished a great movie and wasn't allowed to just sit in the credits because I had to scramble for a remote to stop the ten-second countdown the moment the credits started. Infuriating.

Fallout Tv series is exceptional!

I'm going to say this because I don't know where else to put it:

The Fallout series is absolutely exceptional. As a gamer, I haven't been disappointed at all, and the best part is that there’s basically no CGI when it comes to the monsters or enemies. And the Brotherhood of Steel armor looks absolutely immaculate!

Keep it up! And please don't let yourselves be influenced by cheap shows like Stranger Things or It Chapter Two, which rely way too heavily on CGI.

Why make a programme in one country and try to pass it off as another ? (ride or die )

Ride or die is filmed Czech rep and tries to pass off as London . Why? Watching the programme it clearly not the uk . This programme could have been set anywhere so why try to pass it off as somewhere else ?

Reacher, season 4.

Just watched all 3 episodes yesterday. Anxiously waiting each week for the new episode release. I’ve read most of Lee Childs’ books. I have not read “Gone Tomorrow”, and this is the best series out of all of them so far.

Annoying episode missing from series

So I was really happy to find the Sherlock series with Benedict Cumberbatch on sale on Prime for 5.99 a season last night. It's normally 6.99 per EPISODE.

I bought seasons 1 & 2, then when I got to Season 3, I was unpleasantly surprised that you can’t buy the full season; it can only be bought by the episode at 6.99 each. That in and of itself isn't a big deal, but for some reason there's no way to buy S3 Ep4. The only option for that specific episode is a paid subscription.

I bought Season 4 for 5.99 just like 1 & 2.

Why would they leave out one episode right in the middle of a series?

Fandango has Season 3 for $20 but it also doesn't include Ep 4. It's only available if you buy the complete series, which I don't want to do since I already bought 3 of the 4 seasons.

Wondering if this is a new trick to get you to sign up for their subscriptions. Has anyone else experienced this?

Ad Free still gives me ads

I’ve used prime for a while but in the last few months they started adding ads to everything even though I have an ad free plan. It even straight up says “Ad” with a timer next to it, it’ll be like 3 minutes of ads before watching a movie. How are they allowed to blatantly have ads in a plan that is pushed as being ad free?? I cancelled it after it became consistent because it completely defeats the purpose of me paying for ad free in the first place, and then I realized half the stuff you want to watch on there you have to pay for anyway so I just deleted it

why do they sometimes have movies for really short periods?

for example, there’s a movie called sneakers I’ve been wanting to see that was only on prime for one month in July . This movie is from 1992. Is it really that expensive to get the rights to? It’s not very frequently on any streaming. I did watch it on there, but it was only the last day when I realized that oh it’s only gonna be on there for a month.

The greed is wild

How can you charge someone for an ad-free add on, and then still show an ad before EVERYTHING? I thought i could take it but i cant handle being literally taken advantage of everytime i watch prime. For a company this size its crazy.
