The school that I work at’s mental health policy bothers me. The policy is to take students expressing suicidal ideation to the counseling center. Which is usually busy as 7 counselors serve 8000 students so they will usually just book them for an appointment within a couple of days.
I have lost two people in my life to suicide. One is dead and nothing I ever say or do will change that the other simply is no longer friends with me as they were very upset when I called an ambulance for them after they told me they were going to kill themselves . I’d rather not have a friend over a dead one; so given the chance I’d do the same thing every time.
Personally, I believe that if someone shares they plan to kill themselves, that is their last bit of self preservation kicking in. The situation should be treated as eminent danger. The school, however, believes the counselors should assess if the situation is dangerous. I am in a position where I may have sway over school policy. Should I move forward with trying to change it? If so, how can I get my point across in a professional manner?

I have a fancy goldfish who is now four years old. Up until now I’ve always been able to find someone to feed him while I’m away for a week or two, but I’ve just moved and no longer have that option. Does anyone have recommendations for reliable automatic feeders? I would really only need it to work for a week without human intervention, as I’d want someone to come in to change the water half way for a two week trip anyway.
I used to live on campus at FIT, but due to the increased cost of housing this year I decided to look at other options. Union City is currently looking the best for my price range, quick commuting, and desire to have no roommates. Has anyone else lived in Union City, and did they like it? Comments/concerns?

The song mentions a sweater several times, and it's a sweet indie song about getting over someone. I believe it's a guy singing. I've tried lyric genius but I must not be getting close enough and Shazam hates my terrible singing :.(
Hi everyone! I’ve had my fancy for 3 years, and he’s always been very energetic. Recently I was rearranging his tank because I think he gets bored if it stays the same for too long. I typically do a big rearranging every 6 months or so, and smaller ones when I do his bi weekly tank cleaning. This time it was a big rearranging in which I take everything out, clean and then put it all back in different spots. He came up to my hand when I was placing the big rocks back in and started biting me. He’s never done this before so I’m a bit concerned, am I stressing him out? Does he not like how I’m redecorating?
