Anyone tried porting their number to Google Voice to fix RCS?
tl;dr - if you port your previously RCS-linked number to Google Voice, will it fix the missed group message issue faster than 30+ days?
My Light Phone doesn't have RCS, so I've had some of my friends add a mostly unused Google Voice number I have to group messages to prevent the group message from reverting to RCS. I don't actually check the Google Voice number, but when they include it in the group then that the group message will stay as MMS and I'll be able to receive it on my Light Phone (using T-Mobile).
So now I'm curious what would happen if I ported my main number over to Google Voice, waited a few days, and then ported back. Any thoughts on whether this would help Google remove the number from being linked to RCS faster than the typical 30+ days and avoid the issue of missing group messages? I checked on the Google Voice subreddit, and they don't seem to have nearly the amount of posts discussing missing text messages, but they also probably have different usage scenarios.
Just wanted to check if anyone else had any experience before I go through the trouble. Thanks!
