Cast bullets, .223 or 300 blk
So I recently came into a Howa 1500 short action in .223. Bore measures out to a 1:13 and comes in at right about .22”
I really want to set this up as a critter gitter. Thinking of loading 55gn cast bullets gas checked and powder coated to .22 hornet velocities.
Do yall think I should: cut and thread the existing barrel to around 18”. Put a new short fast twist barrel on it (16”) or pass entirely on the .223 and rebarrel it to 300 blackout?
