Car Question

Recently bought a britax 360, and found that it makes the passenger side a very tight squeeze for my husband in our older Rav4. We were already thinking of getting another car, and I was curious what people have that works well with rear facing, rotating car seats. The Toyota Highlander seems to give my husband the most leg room (though I still wouldn't say he has tons of space) and surprisingly the Honda Pilot felt quite squished. I would really like to avoid having to install the carseat in the middle seat!

Broken britax 360 rotation handle

My husband recently broke one of the rotation handles on our new Britax 360. The other side still works fine and allows the carseat to rotate. Is there any reason this would be a safety issue? I contacted Britax but have not heard back from them! Also, I noticed when I installed it that the plastic on the part of the base that is up against the back of the seat is separating--is this something to be worried about?
