Is the Lovevery play gym worth it?

Not necessarily from a cost point of view but more so a one-more-thing-in-my-house point of view. My baby is 8 weeks old and has started liking to spend time on his current play mat/gym. We have the snuggleme one, which is completely beige, but I do have black and white cards up on it for him to look at which he loves and smiles at. He likes the dangly bits as well and it’ll keep him entertained for a good 15 minutes while I get time to wash my face/make the bed/feel more like a person. But I worry as he gets older it’s just going to be boring for him cause it has no color or anything to touch and feel. He’s discovered his hands recently so those things are probably starting to matter more.

So basically, did you like it? Did baby like it? Is it worth it at his age? Would love to know!

Car seat for infant - Doona + other?

I’m due in the fall and trying to understand our car seat needs. We plan to buy a stroller (like Visat or silver cross) plus a Doona.

My question for NYC parents: if we buy a Doona, should we also buy an infant car seat to keep in our car? We are fortunate to have a car that we use sporadically but is a car seat there helpful to have in addition to the Doona? Assuming Doona will be used for more quick errands in the city, it and out of taxis etc

Advice: Using Bloomingdale's $300 Gift Card for Baby Items

Hello - I purchased the Triv LX from Bloomingdale's and it came with a $300 gift card that I need to use by July 19th.

  1. Any recommendations for products I should buy new / ones that never go on sale? Trying to avoid products that can be purchased on FB Marketplace or go on sale elsewhere.

  2. If not for (1), DM me if you are interested in the GC and can work out a deal.

Need Help Finding Compatible Stroller

I am having my 3rd child later this year and wanted to find a stroller. My ideal stroller would have two main things 1) it’s compatible with the car seat we have and 2) it converts to a bassinet. I don’t really want to buy another car seat to ensure it will work with the stroller and I don’t really want to buy two strollers (bassinet and maybe a snap-n-go?). I’m just having a hard time finding one that works.

The car seat we have is the Safety 1st OnBoard LT Infant Car Seat, purchased in 2018.

Would you trust your baby’s brain to your current thermometer?

A FEVER CAN CAUSE BRAIN DAMAGE, PARALYSIS, OR DEATH TO YOUR CHILD!!!

Hey all, I’m just a dad of 11 months here to say BUY A HIGH QUALITY EAR THERMOMETER. When you have a baby, it’s not a question of if you will have a fever scare but when, and when you do, it is so important to have a high quality, ACCURATE, and RELIABLE thermometer. We all know the forehead ones are completely unreliable and the probe style thermometers can be hard to get a good reading unless you do rectal, and even then that can be difficult to keep the baby still to use. I just wish we would have put this Braun on our baby shower registry from the start. Before we were using a $30 CVS brand probe thermometer in our child’s armpit and it turned out it was reading at 98.9 when our son was actually at 101.

We like this one because it’s a well known and trusted brand in in the medical field, and it’s their top of the line consumer ear thermometer, except you’re not paying extra for the Bluetooth app functionality that nobody needs. We just need a quick easy temp reading we can trust.

Car seats for very, very infrequent use?

We live in a city without a car (the majority of residents don’t own cars) and there is no requirement here to have a car seat to leave the hospital, nor do you need a car seat to ride in a taxi. The only time we would need one is visiting in-laws/family, if we rent or borrow a car to go out of town, or possibly if we fly but I’ve heard mixed things about car seat usage on planes.

Any advice? We’re in the US but an outlier in terms of car culture. We also live in a one bedroom apartment with functionally no storage 😅 so it’ll only be one workhorse endurance stroller

Edit: I take taxis/rideshares very infrequently and do not plan on taking them 99% of the time with a baby. What I meant was that legally you do not have to use a car seat in a taxi/rideshare in my city

Is a double stroller more convenient than 2 strollers even when there is a big age gap?

My son is 1.5 years old and my daughter is 5.5 years old (but still gets tired/lazy after long days of walking and wants to be pushed around in a stroller).

We are going to Greece next month and we currently have 2 single travel strollers.. is it worth it to get a double stroller instead?

Being my daughter is much older she sometimes wants to go and do something different than her brother so sometimes I go off with her while my wife takes my son elsewhere.

Is there anyone who says I should stick with the 2 strollers? I know double strollers are very favorited here.

What stroller would you recommend?

FTM trying to make a registry and super confused on stoller options. I'd like something light weight, easy to grab out of the car and not clunky. I dont plan on using a stroller daily or that regularly. Just for occasional trips out where a lot of walking is involved, maybe some walks here and there.

Which stroller(s)? I’m overwhelmed

Expecting my first baby in November and I’m so overwhelmed by the options and prices of strollers! I live in an apartment with an elevator so carrying anything up the stairs won’t be a problem but storage space is a slight concern. We have a shared parking garage that we can store the stroller in front of our car probably folded or unfolded depending on size. It’s gated so not too worried about it being stolen; many people store things in there. If I keep it in the garage though it might get dirty, cold/hot, and bugs could crawl on it. My option for storing it in my apartment would be either just having it out somewhere or folded and hanging on the back of a door with one of those over the door stroller hangers. We also have one car, a hyundai Elantra. Trunk isn’t tiny but obviously it’s a sedan so a stroller could potentially take up the whole trunk space. We have a dog and go on frequent walks mostly on sidewalks/streets. I plan to go on lots of walks and will also be using a stroller for errands and outings in the car. Originally I was thinking of doing a nicer travel/compact stroller as my only stroller so I could store it easily at home or in the car and it would just be my one and only option (was considering nuna trvl lx, joie nutmeg, Uppababy minu v3). I found a used Uppababy Vista 2 with an infant insert and snack tray included for $250 on marketplace so now I’m considering purchasing this full size stroller to keep at home and registering for a compact/travel stroller to keep in the car. I’d never buy this or even register for it at full price but $250 seems like a great deal. I feel like we will be going on enough walks that 2 strollers shouldn’t be out of the picture for us. And even though it will be winter time for the newborn days, being outside is important to me and I love that I could buy the bassinet for the V2 and bundle up my baby for walks in the winter. We live in Pennsylvania so it can get quite cold but there are enough temperate winter days that I feel like we’d get our use out of a bassinet. Opinions on if 2 strollers is realistic for me? Thoughts on Uppababy V2? Recommendations for travel strollers/infant seats that work together? I’m not only looking at higher end options, definitely open to Graco, Chicco, etc as well. Thanks for any help and suggestions!

All Terrain/Crossover Stroller/Travel System Question!

My fiance is very tall, 6 foot 3, so I want to be sure that the stroller/infant seat travel system we get works well for him with adjustable handles on the stroller. AI suggested 2 options (I asked they exclud luxury brands like Nuna). My other main focus is that the stroller is all terrain, and the infant seat goes to 35lb.

**EDIT - Only looking for travel systems that come with Infant seat!**

  1. Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Travel System -being the tallest/good for long strides...handles extend 44.25 inches. Needs adapters that are included for the infant seat to snap onto the stroller. 8.5 inch tires. Overall about 21 lb. “Features the quickest fold in the industry.”
  2. Chicco Activ3 Jogging Stroller, All-Terrain Stroller – 44 inches off the ground. Heavier stroller than the Baby Jogger brand. 12 inch tires. Overall, about 27lb.

Options for a new car seat for my very large baby

Hey everyone,

Just came back from my 9 month check up with my baby. He's always been in the 99th percentile for his height and weight. He is currently 25lbs and 30.5 inches so he just passed the cutoff for his infant car seat which maxes at 30 inches. I am now shopping around for a new seat but am overwhelmed by the available choices.

I have two cars, one smaller (2025 Tesla Model 3) and one larger (2012 BMW x3) that my wife and I drive. I want to get something that will last him for a long time and that he will be comfortable in. Any recommendations based on his size and the two different vehicles? I would probably lean towards getting a 2nd car seat eventually. We mostly use the Tesla but the BMW is used when I am at work.

Perfect stroller solution for 3.5yo and newborn?

We are usually not very outdoorsy people but my daughter will be born during the nicer months here in Texas and we’ll be spending more time outside. We have an umbrella stroller but it’s not suitable for newborns. We also will be using a convertible car seat from the get go so a travel system stroller isn’t an option.

Our son is mostly a walker but we’d like to have an option for him to sit if he wants to. I was looking at sit and stands but they all require 6+months for the front seat.

So I’m wondering if our options are: wagon, where I can buy an attachment for baby girl to lay flat, a pram style stroller, where I buy a sit and stand attachment for my son, or some magical other option I’m not sure exists. I’m open to baby wearing but I have issues with my shoulders so I’m not betting on it.

I’d love to hear some recommendations as I also do not want to spend a ton of money since we technically have a stroller and we don’t go out much in the warmer months.

360 Car Seat Help

Our son is outgrowing his Doona and we have to upgrade him to his big boy car seat. I own a compact SUV and am completely lost on buying a carseat other than I know we need one that spins to help save my 40 year old back. Any suggestions for those who have smaller cars?

Next to me bassinet recommendations!

I’m after recommendations for a next-to-me/cosleeping bassinet that would work with a VERY high bed. We have had the tutti bambini cozee and a chicco one for babies 1-3 but both are too low for our current bed. The top of the mattress is around 75cm.
Has anyone had a next to me that went particularly high? Or any other solution that worked for a high bed? I’ll be having another C-section so the less I can get off the bed and have to bend down the better!

Please help me build a babywearing “system” for newborn to toddler (first-time mom, due in September)

TLDR: First-time mom due in September looking for realistic babywearing advice. Hoping to primarily babywear instead of using a stroller much. Interested in recommendations for a few versatile carriers (likely 3–5 total), mostly for me (5’3”) but also open to options for my 6’7”, 280 lb husband. Prefers structured carriers over woven wraps, interested in mei tais and onbuhimos, not as interested in ring slings. Also planning for elimination communication part time and wondering if that impacts carrier choices.

Hi everyone! I’m due in September with my first baby, and I’m hoping to get some advice from the babywearing experts here. I’m pretty set on making babywearing my primary way of getting around with my baby, and I’d love to know if that’s actually realistic. I definitely plan to have a stroller, but I’m hoping to rely on babywearing as much as possible.

A little about my husband and I: I’m 5’3”, was about 120 pounds before pregnancy, and I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and around 150 pounds. My husband is 6’7” and about 280 pounds. He’ll probably babywear too, but not nearly as much as I will since I’ll be the primary caregiver and home with the baby during the week while he’s at work. Because of our pretty significant size difference, I’d love recommendations that work well for both of us, but I primarily want carrier recommendations geared toward me since I’ll be doing most of the babywearing. If there are options that also work well for him, I’m absolutely open to that too.

I’m open to woven wraps, but honestly they intimidate me. I’m worried I’ll get overwhelmed trying to learn them, especially as a first-time mom. I think I’d prefer something with a little more structure, but I’m open to hearing why you love woven wraps if you think they’re worth the learning curve.

I’m also really interested in mei tais and onbuhimos. They seem like they might be a nice middle ground between wraps and structured carriers. Ring slings don’t appeal to me as much because of the one shoulder carry, but if there’s something I’m overlooking, I’m happy to be convinced.

I’ve been looking at the WildBird Aerial Buckle Wrap for the newborn stage, and it seems like it could be a great option. If we went that route, we’d probably each have our own, since WildBird offers two size options.

I’m assuming I’ll end up with somewhere around 3 to 5 carriers, but I have no idea if that’s realistic or completely unnecessary. I’d love help figuring out what types of carriers are actually worth owning and which ones can realistically serve multiple purposes. I’m also planning to do elimination communication at least part time, so I’m curious if that changes anything in terms of carrier recommendations or practicality.

The situations I picture using a carrier are:

• Recovering postpartum and the newborn stage
• Contact naps and breastfeeding
• Around the house, including chores and soothing a fussy baby during witching hour
• Out and about, including errands, shopping, appointments, restaurants, and travel
• Outdoor walks (not leisurely) and light movement/exercise (once I’m cleared)
• Hiking with a lightweight carrier instead of a framed hiking backpack
• Water activities, like visiting the lake or pool with family. I wouldn’t be swimming with the baby, but I’d love something safe for getting their toes wet or walking in shallow water. I’m also curious whether a quick skin-to-skin shower during witching hour is considered safe with the right type of carrier. I wouldn’t be trying to shower hands-free. I just feel like a carrier would make me feel more secure since babies are so slippery when they’re wet.

For hiking, I don’t need anything super heavy duty. Before pregnancy I loved doing shorter, steeper hikes, and I usually just carried a water bottle and a small fanny pack. I’d love something lightweight, breathable, and comfortable enough for that kind of activity.

My biggest priorities are comfort and ergonomics for both the baby and the wearer, versatility, and the ability to breastfeed in the carrier.

Is relying this heavily on babywearing actually realistic? If you were building a babywearing collection from scratch, how many carriers would you own, which types would you choose, and what would you skip? I’d especially love to hear which carriers you think are worth owning for different stages and activities.

Joie Ginger vs Nuna Trvl LX

Joie vs. Nuna stroller – we can’t decide! 😭
My husband and I are completely conflicted between these two strollers.
He thinks the Joie is the better value because it comes with a full bassinet and allows the baby to face us. Another major advantage is the price of Joie is less. I, on the other hand, am petite, and the Nuna feels so much lighter. I can easily lift and fold it on my own without needing my husband’s help.
His opinion is that stroller weight won’t matter much in the long run. I feel the bassinet may only be useful for the first 3 months, so I’m not sure it’s worth choosing a heavier stroller just for that.
We also don’t know how much we’ll actually use the stroller during those first few months. We may or may not take our baby on walks longer than an hour.
For parents who’ve been through this, what ended up being more valuable in real life:
A lightweight stroller that’s easy to handle?
Or a stroller with a bassinet and parent-facing option?
Would love to hear what you found most useful and whether you regretted prioritizing one feature over the other!

Stroller help

My baby just turned a year in the beginning of June so I’ve started taking running seriously again. I’m basically starting from square one (even tho I was super close to running a half marathon pre pregnancy, long runs of 8-12 miles).
I need help with a running stroller. I have the UPPAbaby ridge but it’s not my favorite and the leg rest gets hot in the sun ( stationed in San Diego county so sun and hot weather is absolutely not going anywhere).
Anyone have any advice on strollers for someone training for a half marathon and eventually a marathon? Baby is only 20 pounds at the moment but over 2.5 feet tall already.
