Question regarding carburetor adjustment

I have a quadrajet in 78. I am using my vacuum gauge to try and fine tune my carb as it seems to be running rich. I’m trying to get in the 15-20 in range but can’t seem to get higher than 13 on my gauge. Most places I’ve read have said that 3 ish turns out on the fuel mixture screws should be around the sweet spot. The highest reading on my gauge is basically both mixture screws all the way closed to where they won’t move anymore. It seems to idle and drive fine in this setting as well. I’m confused as to why it would be giving the best reading with both screws closed off like this instead of 3 ish turns out like I was expecting. Any advice is appreciated.

The kar98k sniper we have at home feat. Bad Ace Tactical

Don’t worry, no bubba job here. Wanted to see what this rifle could do with a scope instead of the subpar iron sights limiting me. I was having trouble getting a decent grouping with 1956 yugo surplus ammo but I did manage to hit my 10” gong at 300 yards a few times. Hoping I can buy some new ammo and tighten my groups up a bit.

Where do I attach vacuum gauge on quadrajet carburetor?

1978 Pontiac trans am 400 auto
I’m trying to tune my carb with my vac gauge which is a first for me. I’ve looked at a hundred pictures by now to try and find out what is what but I’m still not sure where to attach. I tried to attach to the port just above the GM on my engine block which seems to be the recommended port, but it is too big for my hose to fit over. Any help is appreciated.

Went to 500 yards and practiced quick re-engagement with the budget mk12 wannabe build. I like to try and get at least two if not three shots off before I hear the first hit on steel. Overall I’m impressed at how tight to center chest I could be with cheap AAC 77gr and shooting as fast as I was with this wind.
