Need Help Planning trip

Hello, I am trying to plan a trip to Costa Rica in January. I am thinking the 3rd-9th as of now. I am kinda overwhelmed by the different places and dont really know where to start with researching. I have done some research into the Monteverde and La Fortuna areas, but I am worried about them being a little too touristy. I think I prefer something a little less commercialized. I am gonna be traveling with at least one other person, maybe 2, so I've been thinking about getting a rental car, but I'm not really sure what people recommend. My friends and I really like nature, hikes, wildlife, volcanoes, beaches, etc. Cool towns/architecture and good food are awesome too. I am not really sure where to go for the best of all that stuff. I have heard there's some stuff further south and east that has good beaches and food and more lively towns, but again I'm just not really sure what I'm looking at. If I had to like rank priorities, it would probably be the nature and wildlife/hikes first, then beaches, then towns and food. We are also broke college students, so any cheaper places/ traveling tips for CR would be awesome. Any recommendations would be dope, thanks!

Jawbone and vertebrae if

Found these two while hiking in the Sangre de Christi mountains in southern Colorado. I can’t tell what they are I think the jaw might be a mule deer or a big horn I’m not sure though. Any help would be appreciated 🙏
