Sunflower Lanyard
I'm not sure if this is a thing in other countries, but in Australia we have the Sunflower Lanyard that people can choose to wear to let those around them know they have a hidden disability (diabetes, epilepsy, autism, ADHD, etc).
My workplace wants all staff to start wearing them to promote the program. There are two lanyards - one to say you do not have a hidden disability but you support those who do. And a second option lets people know you have a hidden disability.
I don't want to say I don't have one, because I am not ashamed of who I am. But I also don't want to display that I do have a DX because I don't see why the many people that come and go into my workplace each day should get access to my medical information.
Would you refuse? I want to email my boss but I'm already having a bad brain day for other reasons so I'm trying to get feedback to see if I am being rational.
Thanks.
