Has any other actor had a year like this in recent times? A very unique case imo.

Just searched "Mamitha" on X recently and 90%of the posts are from Tamil fans who are either simping for her or hating on her.

The girl just gave an Industry hit in Malayalam and yet i dont see them obsessing over her anywhere near as much as Tamil fans do on social media. Do you think it shows the difference in the star culture between the two states?

Re-watched Udayananu Tharam recently and noticed something :

I know it was a big discussion back then that Sreenivasan was making fun of Ettan and Ikka's Superstar image with the character Saroj Kumar, but one thing that went under the radar was how in the movie they kept calling out the quality of the comedy movies which were released back then. Considering the fact that Dileep was the top comedy hero back then, and also since Sreeni and Dileep didnt collaborate together in many comedy movies, it feels like Sreenivasan wasnt a fan at all of Dileep's works from the early 2000's.

Fun fact:Both Meleparambil Anveedu&Thenmavin Kombathu came from the same thread.

Rajasenan, the director of Meleparambil Anveedu said in an interview that after watching a private screening of the movie in Chennai, Priyadarshan came up to him and told him that he had heard the same one liner from somewhere a while ago and was making his own version of it, which then became Thenmavin Kombathu. Both these movies became huge box office hits and coincidentally both had Shobana in the female lead role.

Underperformance of Big Budget Malayalam Movies that receive mixed WOM

With I'm Game receiving mixed reviews and most likely underperforming in the box office, what do you guys think is the reason behind malayali audiences being less forgiving towards big budget movies that get mixed WOM compared to other industries like Telugu and Tamil?

For example Ram Charan's Peddi received avg to below avg reviews and yet went on to collect over 300cr which was much higher than his previous movie Game Changer. Even Karuppu which became a big hit got some mixed reviews for its 2nd half even though its 1st half was unanimously praised.

In comparison the only non franchise malayalam movie that became a hit recently despite receiving mixed WOM was Athiradi which was a comedy entertainer. Thrillers like Patriot, Khalifa and now I'm Game have all underperformed commercially because of their WOM.

What are your thoughts on this situation?
