My toddler asked why I’m always attached to the pump

I was pumping this morning while my toddler was eating breakfast and she looked over at me and said

“Mommy are you making milk for the baby again?”

I said yeah

She thought about it for a second and goes

“You make a LOT of milk.”

😂😂

It honestly made me laugh because there are definitely days when pumping feels like the most repetitive exhausting thing ever.

Wash parts
Set everything up
Pump
Clean everything
Put milk away
And somehow it’s already time to do it again.

But hearing her say that this morning made me realize how much of this she’s actually watching me do.

Pumping is such a weird mix of being proud of yourself and being completely over it at the same time 😅

What’s something funny or sweet your baby or older kid has said about your pumping?

I didn’t expect formula feeding to make me enjoy motherhood more

I feel like I need to say this because I spent way too long feeling guilty about it.

I really wanted breastfeeding to work.

But between feeding issues pumping and constantly wondering if my baby was getting enough I started feeling like feeding was taking over my entire day.

I was always thinking about the next feed or the next pump.

And honestly I wasn't enjoying those moments anymore.

When we switched to formula I was surprised by how quickly I felt different.

My husband could feed the baby without me having to plan around it.

I could actually sit down and enjoy a bottle with my baby instead of thinking about when I needed to pump next.

I had more time to rest and somehow I felt more present.

The biggest thing was realizing that feeding my baby didn't have to look the way I originally imagined for me to be a good mom.

I know everyone has a different experience but I just wanted to share because I wish I'd heard more positive stories about making the switch before I felt so guilty about it.

Did anyone else feel a huge weight lift after switching to formula?
