Do you ever go back to places you used to live just for the memories?

Sometimes I like going back to neighborhoods I used to live in and just walking around. I’ll pass by my old street or places I used to go to and remember the people I knew there and different moments from that time in my life.

Some memories are good, some not so much, but I still enjoy going back every once in a while. It’s a weird feeling seeing a place that used to be part of your everyday life but isn’t anymore.

Does anyone else do this?

Naturalization / Einbürgerung in Düsseldorf – how long until you received your Aktenzeichen?

Hi everyone,
I submitted my German naturalization (Einbürgerung) application in Düsseldorf by post on 15 August 2026, so it has been about one month now.
So far, I haven’t received any confirmation, Aktenzeichen, or other response from the Einbürgerungsbehörde.
For context: I currently hold an EU Blue Card and I already fulfill the other requirements for naturalization. The only thing still pending is that I am currently in my probation period (Probezeit) at work, which will end in February 2027.
For those who applied recently in Düsseldorf:
How long did it take until you received the first confirmation or your Aktenzeichen?
Is it normal to hear absolutely nothing for the first 1–2 months?
And did being in Probezeit affect the initial processing of your application?
Would be especially interested in recent experiences from Düsseldorf in 2025/2026.
Thanks!

Architect with 2 Years of Experience in Germany – How Hard Is It to Find a Job in Switzerland?

Hi everyone,
I’m an architect currently working in Germany and I’m considering moving to Switzerland in the next 1–2 years.
By then, I’ll have around 2 years of professional experience in Germany. My German is around B2–C1 level, and I have an EU passport, so I wouldn’t need visa sponsorship.
How realistic is it to find an architecture job in Switzerland with this profile?
I’m mainly interested in the German-speaking part, especially Zurich, Basel, or Bern.
Would employers value German work experience, and is 2 years of experience enough to have a reasonable chance?
Would appreciate hearing from architects or people working in the Swiss construction industry.
