Filing complaint

Who do we file a complaint with against local housing authority office? Had previously posted about an issue I was having with my local housing authority. I received my voucher at the end of June was told to call and make an appointment with our case worker once we had the landlord paper work ready unfortunately for me I don’t have an assigned case worker anymore because they retired.. so they told us just call and supervisor will handle it. Was calling for about a week in a half and not getting anywhere with them so I showed up to the office and they told me you just have to wait someone will call you so I said okay …it’s been about two weeks and I never received a phone call. Today I called the office and told them that I’ve been waiting for about two weeks for someone to give a call and my voucher is about to expire. They tell me that they suggest I write a letter asking for an extension asap and bring it to the office and then she says that it’s not guaranteed to be approved…like wtf ..they acting like this is my fault!! This shit is ridiculous

Help need advice with dealing with my local Housing Authority

Received a letter at the end of last year December 2025 that I was up for the section 8 voucher and if I was still interested to call and make an appointment. I call and get an appointment around the second week of January. Go to my appointment bring all my required documents and fill out all the paperwork my case worker tells me she’ll let me know if I get approved. Months go by and still haven’t heard back from housing authority so I call and tell them that I hadn’t heard anything back and they tell me they are super backed up and that they were just now processing dec/ Jan applications this was in march. In April I seen someone post that they had just been told that did get approved for the section 8 voucher and where looking for a place so I reached out to them to ask them what their timeline had been …from what they told me housing authority was way more behind than what they had said on the phone which I already expected anyways. Towards the end of June I finally heard back from them telling me that I was approved and had to come in for an appointment on whatever date. Go to the appointment they give us our vouchers and go over everything and then tells us that some of us don’t have a caseworker anymore because our case worker had retired . They tell us that when we are ready to turn in our paper work call the number and ask for a supervisor and they’ll probably be the ones to have to take over our case. I have all my paperwork ready to go so we can do the home inspection. Called the office and told the front office girl the situation she said she sent and email and someone would be reaching out.., never heard anything back …remembered they had said to ask for a supervisor so I called after a few days of not hearing back from anyone …they of course connect me to a supervisor but of course they didn’t answer ..left them a message ..have been calling the supervisor multiple times a days hoping maybe I can catch them since she has not returned my call …with no luck!!! Seen some of the reviews on our local housing authority and I’m seeing a pattern here from what everyone is saying and it’s really unfortunate… I don’t know what I can do about this ..seems like that whole office don’t care so calling and complaining to the people in charge isn’t even an option when you can’t even get ahold of them and when you do they seem to be as rude as their other employees

Reassessment

Has anyone had a phone reassessment recently? I know I have read that they can do reassessments over the phone but have never actually seen anyone say they had their reassessment over the phone? If you have had one how did it go?

Question .

I was informed at the end of the year last year that I was up for the housing voucher and had an appointment scheduled in January . Turned in all paperwork in January and did not hear anything back until 6/13/26 when I received a letter in the mail saying I had been approved and had an appointment in two weeks. When I applied in January I explained to the case worker that I was fighting for custody of two of my kids and was asking if they could be added or what the rules for those types of situations ..worker said that once I got approved that in the 90 days they give you to find a place that modifications can be made to the voucher and that they could be added on at that point . Today when I went into my appointment. it was a group appointment where they handed out the vouchers. The case workers that were there were not my case worker but I asked one of them since they were having me sign the papers . I explained to her that when I applied I didn’t have my 17 and 9 year old living with me but that they were now in my home she was just like oh well you can get a 3 bedroom but where still only going to pay for a 2 bedroom.. does that sound right?
