I'm quitting my job today. What exactly does section 8 need from me when I update them?

Will paystubs be enough? A letter? I'm planning on just not showing up today, maybe they'll send me a letter of termination.

I'm in PA if that changes anything.

Housing choice voucher v. Project based voucher

Is a housing choice voucher the same thing as a section 8 voucher? And if so, do you choose where you live, granted that place accepts the voucher?

I applied for what I thought was section 8 back in 2022. I successfully got myself onto the waitlist. Some way or another I also ended up on a project based voucher waitlist. So I was actively on 2 waitlists. Between then and now, I had applied to live at a new community that was being built. I met the income limits and moved in when it opened up.

The project based voucher was for the community I'm currently living in, however, I was still on the waitlist because I had to wait for a unit to open up. The unit im living in is not one of the units selected for any vouchers.

I got a letter in the mail saying due to occupancy requirements, I was not eligible for the project based voucher and removed from that waitlist.

My question is, why would the housing authority place a 2-person household up against a unit that has occupancy requirements of more than 2 people? It makes no sense. My application has always been for myself and one other person. As of right now its still showing im active on the housing choice voucher waitlist, but no longer active on the project based voucher list.

Anaheim CA Housing Waitlist Section 8 Lottery

Does anyone have any idea how much longer this is going to take? I was reinstated into the list April 2026 after being removed February 2023 due to a mailing address error, and appealed. I am now back on the list but lost a time gap of February 2023-April 2026. Originally applied in 2019 and was selected from lottery.

Need advice: Facing termination from income-based housing over alleged failure to disclose PayPal/Venmo

Hello,
I am currently living in income-based housing and I am going through a recertification process with my property management.
During my initial move-in and subsequent annual/interim recertifications, I did not report my PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App accounts. I listed them as $0 because I misunderstood the reporting requirements and believed that only regular, significant income needed to be disclosed.
In reality, these accounts had very small and irregular transactions (approximately $20–$25 per month on average, sometimes $0). The transactions mainly consisted of cashback rewards, refunds, small gig/influencer payments, and transfers from my own bank account. My current PayPal balance is around $100, which was mostly transferred from my personal bank account.
I have now submitted full PayPal transaction history, which shows there was no significant income or intentional attempt to conceal assets.
However, the housing management is treating this as “failure to disclose assets” or “concealment of income.” This was a misunderstanding of the reporting rules and my limited understanding of English, not an intentional omission.
I am now trying to correct the record and understand my rights and options to avoid losing my housing.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance on:
whether this situation is typically considered fraud or a reporting error,
whether termination is usually reversible in such cases,
and what legal protections or defenses may apply in income-based housing cases in Tennessee.
Thank you for your help.

If I still have time on my voucher can I ask to port?

I don’t find anything in this county with all utilities included but I did find a lot in another neighboring county.

Trouble finding Section 8 renters?

Any Birmingham, AL Section 8 landlords having trouble finding tenants lately?
I have a couple of Section 8 single-family rentals in Birmingham that have been sitting vacant for months, which is unusual for me.
I’m trying to figure out whether this is just my properties or if other landlords are seeing the same thing.
Have you noticed:
Fewer voucher holders looking?
Slower housing authority inspections or approvals?
Changes in payment standards or voucher availability?
Certain neighborhoods becoming harder to rent?
Anything else that’s changed in the last year?
I’d appreciate hearing what you’re seeing and whether you’ve had to change your pricing, marketing, or screening process.

Section 8 Housing

I'm currently looking for any Section 8 Housing in Muncie, Indiana

I'm willing to port my voucher to any city in Indiana or close to it.

My lease ended July.1,2026 I don't wish to renew as the tenants upstairs smoke weed I have tried to complain about it but nothing has been done.

Landlord willing to move lease to Month to Month until I can find a different place .

Don't have Damage Deposit or First months rent but hoping St.Vicents and other programs can help facilitate that.

I'm a clean, respectful, honest and friendly person I am also a bigger guy who can't work cause no carliage in my knees and only 10% vision at very best.

To do surgery now would most likely take any remaining vision I have left or wouldn't wake up from anesthesia.

HCV Portability in CA as of 2026

EDIT: yes I know there’s a requirement to live in the jurisdiction for a year but is it possible to port after, I’ve heard that no one is absorbing anymore and not many are willing to be billed.

What is the situation right now? Asking for an elderly relative in a precarious living situation but he can’t move too far away as he has some fairly specialized medical care.
If he gets an HCV elsewhere in CA, can he port it to Santa Clara or San Mateo counties? Does it even make sense to apply in smaller counties. I know no counties absorb, but maybe by billing and finding a cheap studio or SRO he can do it?
I don’t know much about it at all. Thank you!

Supportive housing NYC

I have a question regarding supportive housing. Our application for the NY/NY III program (2010e) was approved; we were matched with an apartment, passed the interview, and received preliminary approval. The case is currently being reviewed by HPD to schedule a briefing. Will our status as asylum seekers be an obstacle to obtaining PBV approval in New York?

Won the overpayment court case. But now I have to file two different cases.

My landlady got angry after she lost the case.

My mental health case manager came to the court hearing and identified himself.

Magistrate asked her why she didn’t want to rent to me anymore and do I pay my rent.

She told him that I pay my rent religiously on time. She doesn’t want to rent to someone like me.

On the way out the courtroom she proceeded to call me names and her daughter said “ you can’t reason with someone who’s mentally disturbed “ in front of everyone.

Her daughter texted me saying she is now in charge of the property (except receiving rent monies).

I told her that section 8 has paperwork for that and because she isn’t on the contract that I don’t have to report anything to her until she gets it in writing.

Two days later my landlady was on the porch ( recorded by my Roku camera) calling me racial slurs, female dogs and a slew of things I can’t repeat here.

She has also been taking pictures of people coming in and out of my home ( my daughter who is my interim caregiver because my other daughter is helping my sister navigate a serious medical condition leukemia, brown tumor , left sided stroke and four kids under the age of 8)

My landlady keeps repeatedly going down to section eight to talk to the landlord advocate and asking them why I’m being removed from the program ( Im not) and complaining about not being able to get answers regarding my case

What rights do I have? HACP Pittsburgh pa

Sacramento SHRA section 8

Is there a reason why my CW would delay and not process my annual recertification? It’s as if the CW is doing this on purpose. I am
Polite and to the point, but my annual is still not processed. The last thing I want to do is reach out to her supervisor.

secondhand smoke and negligent landlords

I live in section 8 housing and someone of maybe multiple someones are smoking inside their apartment and it’s constantly getting into my apartment via the bathroom vent (but also maybe other conduits? unsure). i put a merv 13 filter and a carbon filter over the bathroom vent and there’s an air purifier running next to the vent 24/7. i put several shallow bowls of vinegar in the bathroom as well.

unfortunately i can still smell the smoke and it makes me nauseous and gives me a sore throat. it’s gross. i dont want the exposure. and i am sensitive to most smells and I havr MCAS.

i have complained to management and they have done NOTHING. where do i take tnis? over their heads?

Orange County CA

How long did it take anyone who's been successful with getting housing through coordinated entry housing navigator. Being without housing in Orange County going on 8 years now. 37 y.o. female, I have submitted documents with housing navigator through Coordinated Entry, been living in vehicle, working, have a verified mental health disability, provided those documents, impossible to get housing in Orange County, even when I was making decent income, credit is compromised. I am on my last end here, this has been going on for way too long. And my current job pays horrible until I find something better. I applied for housing with Coordinated Entry worker May 2026, and I am wondering how many months I will be waiting, still in my vehicle and my body is super sore.

Lack of 1br in public housing (that’s not in senior/disabled housing)

I will qualify for 1br as a single person.
It make me kind of sad that most family public housing where I live is 2br+. I wish they had 1br units within the regular family housing buildings.

I personally would have applied to public housing (not just mobile vouchers) but having to live in senior housing as someone who is younger kind of sucks. I would technically be able to qualify due to being on SSDI disability but just find it very depressing to be surrounded by all elderly.
