(PA) Homeowner notified me in 30 days he will no longer take hud and I must move.
Am I out in 30 days exactly or is their more of a process? I’ll move if need be.

Hi, asking for a family member who lives in California. He moved into a LIHTC building and qualified at 60% AMI at the time.
He has lost that job unfortunately and now technically qualifies for 30% AMI. He was told however that he can’t apply for a 30% AMI unit in the same building. Is this true?
Also, can he request to be moved to a different unit of the same size in his building?
I got a text from the new homeowner at 10pm tonight saying “my loan requires your house to be my permanent residence. I need you out in 30-days. I’ll be sending a formal eviction letter to mark the start of 30-days”. Is this legal? I’m panicking? I don’t have money to move within 30 days.
He hasn’t even closed on the home. Why is he texting someone in the first place who isn’t even his legal tenant??
I'm in need of some advice for a friend of mine who is on section 8 from Florida.
She is at risk of losing her voucher, because her previous landlord refuse to sign a termination lease agreement. Her landlord stated that she could not sign the form because she has given her a copy of the notice to vacate. (I assume the landlord doesn't know the difference between the two).
My friend stated that she told the landlord that she wanted to move due to financial hardship and the landlord agreed but doesn't agree to the lease being terminated. The landlord has also report to section 8 that the lease has ended may 14,2026 but section 8 sent her an email stating that her section 8 is at risk due to them not getting the termination lease agreement.
WHAT CAN SHE DO??
If someone reports to section 8 that there’s an unlisted person (adult child) living in the unit. What does the investigation entail? Are they given the opportunity to update their file with the new person or do they automatically lose their voucher?
And find any excuse to come at you. I have stuff that clearly goes outside and the manager constantly takes pictures to harass me about it. Idk where else to put the stuff I have. Seems like every new manager want to prove a point and finds any little thing to complain about and say it’s against my lease. I’m paying nearly 2,500 per month and I have to have the backyard to their standards. Yet when I’m unemployed for 3 months she looks the other way and still charges me full rent instead of adjusting my rent.
Hi everyone, I have a question about PBV/public housing income-based rent. I’m approved and scheduled to move in on May 26. Right now I work through a temp agency making about $21.50/hr, but in June I’m expected to roll over to full-time and make $25/hr.
My question is: once you’re approved and moved in, are you allowed to make more than what you originally qualified with? Or would my rent just be adjusted based on the new income? I’m worried the increase could affect my lease or eligibility shortly after moving in.
Has anyone been through something similar with a raise or job change right after moving in?
I live in an affordable housing building where rents are normally much lower than market value. I received a 5-year Section 8 voucher and have been using it for the past 2 years. This year, the building requested a rent increase from $1,313 to $1,780, even though during the 15 years I’ve lived here, rent increases were usually around 5% yearly.
The housing authority first refused the increase after I mentioned California law AB 846 and concerns about increases beyond normal limits, but later they approved it and said they had to approve it. my tenant portion is now around $900. And without the voucher it should be 1300 make it make sense. So the building is trying to take advantage of me and the voucher
What concerns me most is that management told me directly this increase happened because I have a voucher, and that if I did not have the voucher, the increase would have only been around the normal 5%
Does anybody been through this ? What would you do ?
So I’m currently working two jobs. Im sick and fucking tired of it. I just went thru my re certification last month. i’m quitting my full time job and will be going full time at my part time job. Starting the end of June. My hours and pay will be cut significantly obviously but maybe i’ll actually have my mental health back hahahaha anyways. my question is when should I tell them about this? Do I wait until I have pay paystubs to reflect this? Can I have my bosses write a letter verifying that I’m leaving and the other verify that i’m going full time? I’m worried that they will not adjust my rent portion in time and I will be screwed and have to find last minute income source.
My aunt, in her 40s lives in public housing based on income with her 2 teens. My aunt is disabled and receives 1500 in disability and 300 in court ordered child support. She pays $750 for rent (which seems high but the property manager refuses to explain how she calculated $750). She pays electricity only.
She's lived there for 2 years. Her adult son, unemployed, but looking for employment moved in with her. Her rent is still $750. She asked for a breakdown because she thought the rent amount would change. She lives in Arkansas.
How is rent amount calculated and can a tenant ask and receive a breakdown of how rent was calculated? Thx!
Ok so me and my kids father live together and We recently just got on the same case for food stamps/assistance…. but I applied for housing years ago without him on my application during a break up and I only had me and my kids... Today I got selected for public housing and it’s asking for all household members.. do I add him? Will they know if I don’t add him? Is that going to hurt my chances of actually getting approved? Can they get information from food stamps?
I told my housing authority specialist soon as I lost my job and she said she will see if she can get my rent lowered. My SSI should go back up since I lost my job. I contacted her today (as I’m still looking for work. I have an interview on Thursday at goodwill. I’m trying my best) and she told me she will talk to someone to see if I can get assistance. I moved in in 2024, paid rent and bills early every month. Will they be able to work with me or will I be getting kicked out next month? I paid my rent n bills for this month
I've been getting different opinions about the situation. I'm single and been looking to get into section 8 housing but my income doesn't quite meet the requirement. I'd like to stay in section 8 indefinitely as I save for my own ranch. The problem is my income doesn't meet the requirements. I make high 100k but they said it's too much for acceptance. Is there loopholes or ways to make it appear as though I qualify? I would like to get some insights on how to take on this problem.
My landlord terminated my lease after section 8 inspection (too many violations) and I’m having an issue finding a place in my state so I would like to port out. I’m aware that mostly everyone is billing so my options are limited. How long is the port out process?
Okay so I just got approved to be put on a section 8 voucher list and want to know how to move accordingly. I know it’s going to be a wait for a voucher but I just want to be sure for when the time comes. So I’ve never had any of these housing vouchers I’ve always just done the roommate situation before but want my own place now. If I receive a voucher and make about 4,400 a month net 30% of that would be around 1,300 if I was to find a place that in total not including utilities cost around 1,300 a month how would that work with a voucher.
Porting is insanely slow and communication is non existent. I’ll give credit to my original housing authority they sent the port right away the receiving Housing authority is taking forever.
So I’m in Fairfield ca and they opened up the applications march 4th-6th for pbv housing (section 8) and the housing authority did a lottery randomized pick of the liter type of situation. Friday may 15th I received an email from Tanya Tran (housing authority manager) stating I was accepted into the waitlist for 2 different apartments that are supposedly having specific units. My question is too anyone who’s been through this process what’s that waitlist time like?? Do I need 30% of my income for rent?? Do they open up waitlists when they have a specific unit available or only if it becomes available?? I’m a first timer wit this whole thing and doing it by myself
Hello, I am helping a friend who is not very good with anything online or filling out forms. I am just trying to assist them trying to get section 8 housing. She would like to rent the website I found for where we live for the City where she is is that the waiting list is closed? I just I don’t know where to go, and I don’t know where to direct her to like whom can help her.
She sounds and seems very distraught depressed and upset right now because they need they need help and they just don’t know where to turn so they reached out to me
I have already consulted somebody giving me a counselor that might have some references for them, a Deaf friend of mine who has lived through it. I’m waiting for her to respond and I reached out to one other person that I think would have good resources for them.
But I will accept any and all advice. It seemed like she needed the housing sooner than later. Urgent, if you will.
Thank you also so so much
