Icon Restoration
I already put this in r/orthodoxchristianity but it may fit more here.
So I recovered this icon from the ruins of my great grandfathers home in the village Agios on the island of Evia, Greece. The village has a bust commemorating him at the community Medical Clinic (Κοινοτικό Ιατρείο) Dr. Ioannis G. Dimitriou (1907–1976). Unfortunately the icon is extremely damaged with mold on the face, and the back wood is disintegrating. It carries significant value to my family and i dont mind if it cant be fully restored but at least a way to further preserve it. I have no knowledge on the subject of icon preservation or restoration but this icon means so much to us. If anyone knows any methods I could do personally for preservation or send it to a restoration service potentially please let me know. 🙏
