Why Agilent Q6520 instrument vacuum worsen when instrument cover is in place

This is happening after the smart card stopped working and is replaced with a used one. The vacuum couldn't reach the same as before even after long time pumping. Now the vacuum achieved with the cover off is close to what the system can achieve before with cover in place, but the vacuum will worsen if the cover is put back on and slowly climbing. I have put the cover back on long enough time to see if it eventually fail the criteria for getting the instrument ready. I understand there might be offgassing from the chamber under the trapped heat when the cover is closed, but that should be the same as before the replacement. I am wondering if there is some kind of control mechanism that is still not working properly due to the smart card replacement. Anyone have any thought on this? Thank you.

how to diagnose Agilent 1290 high speed pump A problem?

It doesn't build pressure. Initially the pressure would go up to 150 bar in pressure test and do the jigsaw thing before quit, tried sonicating all the valves in water and IPA, intially it help a little, which means only less of jigsaw, but still never was able to build pressure above 150, after long time sonicate in 50C water and put back together it's even worse. How to tell what is the problem? Doesn't seem to be seal since it is not leaking, but which valve? Primary inlet, outlet or secondary outlet valve? Or more than one?

How to switch Agilent G6520 Smart Card?

The instrument lost communication with the computer altogether, and following some nice reditor’s diagnosis to connect the smart card directly to a monitor and there was nothing shown up when the instrument is turned on, so the diagnosis was a faulty smart card and I went ahead to get a used one on ebay and swapped it out, but I reused the hard drive from the old smart card and left the hard drive from the new smart card. For the whole assembly, the old one doesn’t have any catalog number but the new one has a sticker says G2581-65410, both are almost exactly the same, there are two differences: the revision number on the old one is A1 and the new one is A0, and there is one cord that is connected differently on the two boards. After swapping, the behavior difference is observed, but sitll not communicating with computer. There is something shown up when the smart card is connected to a monitor as shown in the picture, and I can see the fan for the CPU on the new smart card would spin some time. For the old one, the fan didn’t spin at all. Anyway, I heard there is something to do in swapping the smart card, but I don’t know how. Can anyone help?

What is the difference bwteen Agilent G2581-60243 (Power Failure Valve) and Agilent G2581-60148 (Humidity Valve)?

The look the same in physical apperance and both show Vac40 PSIG specifics, but they bear different part number and with different port connnected to gas tubes. Are they simply the same valve serve different applications? Thanks

Agilent G6520 QTOF valve constantly venting normal?

There is gas venting from the port indicated in the picture with the red arrow, the one with the end port open. One of the line for that valve seems leading to a place befind the high valtage powersuply. I am not sure what is that valve controlling, but intutively thinking the constand venting is not normal, anyone has any thought? Thank you.

How to build a keep alive switch for Agilent 6000 mass spec?

It seems the Agilent keep alive switch can be used to repalce some board without venting the instrument, I suppose that can be used to mannuall shut down the turbo pump and rougphing pump subsequently. Agilent doesn't sell the device to user.

How to manually vent Agilent G6520A QTOF instrument?

The instrument loses communication with the controlling computer likely due to smart card and/or power source, so it cannot be vented with software. Does it work to vent by unplugging the turbo power and/or turbo control, either from the turbo control box or from the main power supply module? Does that let the turbo to spin down and then we can turn off the roughing pump or that also trigger the shutdown of the roughing pump? The intention is just to spin the turbo pump down and cut the roughing pump to avoid any damage to the turbos. Anyone has good idea on this? Thank you.

Agilent 6520 QTOF instrument restarting failure

The instrument was idling fine with no reading for turbo pump 1 iongauge but good reading for turbopump 2. When trying to restart the mass spec, the status on the mass spec panel keep flashing oringe and both ion gauge in orginge color. On the computer, mass spec or diagnosis is offline and no connection to the mass spec or configuraton can be made and mass hunter won't open. Doesn this mean some board on the mass spec needs to be replaced? If so whicn one is it? Thank you.

Why Agilent 8900 LC-ICP-MS keep stopping acuisition due to vaccum error?

The instrument is connected to LC with 0.1% cysteine and 0.006% HCl as the eluent for mercury speciation. The chromatography is programed to run speciation eluent to feed to the ICP-MS. And then the ICP-MS infusion fluid is diverted to pure water that is delivered by the peristaltic pump during the diverted period of time. During the diverted period of time the HPLC chromatography solvent is programed to ramp up organic solvent to clean the column and then ramp back down to water and then cysteine buffer again, all put to waste and the divert valve is turned back to the chromatography eluent again for feeding into the ICP-MS.

And then comes the issue that the instrument keeps stopping acquisition and gives out the error of vacuum too low, the first time this happened after a few samples were run. We cleaned the sample cone and skimmer cone, and the same thing would still happen even just after one sample run of less than 20 min. I need to say the instrument could still start up and tune just fine before connecting to LC. This didn't happen before either, when running the isocratic cysteine buffer continuously for chromatography. We are puzzled about what is the root cause. If clogging is the issue, I suppose the instrument shouldn’t tune and run. The major difference between when it was running and when the current issue appears is the solvent diverting, but I don’t see how that could affect the vacuum issue. By the way, the interface vacuum is around 1.3-1.4 e2 pa during acquisition and 3-4 e0 when idle. Anyone have any idea? Thanks
