AAA Omega Snoopy (quartz) review

Got my $79 quartz Omega Snoopy in the mail today. I wasn’t expecting much for the price and I wasn’t surprised. General observations:

-I’ve never seen one in person, all the pics I’ve seen show the subdial and bezel blue the same shade of blue. This one has a very noticeable lighter blue on the bezel

-bezel does not turn

-Left subdial does nothing, bottom is seconds. Right does operate properly as a chrono (I do not know how long, I am assuming 30 mins). Pushers are as stiff as my knees first thing in the morning but work.

-bracelet quality is a bit less-finished and a bunch lighter than U1. The part that the raised “nipple” (I have no idea what this is properly called) inserts into when closing is lower quality for sure.

-SEL gaps are bigger/wider than the U1 oceanmaster I have, not surprising.

-Crown screws down. Time adjustment is smooth. Kept track for an hour against the atomic clock, didn’t lose or gain a second.

-crystal is clear but seems a little thick.

-back is obviously not one with moving rocket. Also a pain in the butt to line up before closing so the graphic is aligned the way it should be. No clue on overall thickness.

Like I said, I wasn’t expecting much and I knew I was getting a sub-$80 quartz watch. I’ll wear it knocking around, for the uninitiated it’s still got the novelty factor (Snoopy) and would look good from 10 feet wearing jeans.

If you’re expecting watch back movement, the dial to rotate, or a band that doesn’t feel cheap, this ain’t the one for you.

U1 submariner. Beat error worth screwing with?

Timegrapher numbers were nearly identical to TickIQ. Beat error is high, amplitude could be better. Got the s/d where I want it.

Is it worth it to screw around with the beat error adjustment for 1.4/1.5? Last time I tried that I screwed up and have a paperweight now.

U1 40mm yachtmaster (MT)

Received today. Rose gold is definitely rose gold colored, I wasn’t sure I liked it at first but it’s growing on me. Miyota upgrade, got the 40mm and kinda wish I had gone with the 42. Same “oysterflex” as I got with my U1 sub. “Cut to size” on one side of the case. The clasp is the same (even the clasp code) as my other U1s Feels a lot lighter than my U1 sub and a little thinner. Will be nice for dressier occasions.

Bezel feels a little cheap and light, but does rotate both ways. Crown doesn’t feel as substantial as my others, but screws down well. Cyclops and date is a definite improvement over recent U1 GMTs. Lume is surprisingly bright, I don’t know yet how long it lasts.

Timegraphed it, +6.1, 291, and 0.2. I’ll pop it open to regulate and grease the gaskets this weekend.

I went with standard shipping and it was in my hands in 2 1/2 weeks.

U1 Seep Sea “helium valve” question

U1 from MT.

I wouldn’t expect the “helium valve” to be an actual helium valve. However, whatever it is moves when pressed from the outside

I asked MT if there is any issue with water exposure (swimming) and they responded that it’s waterproof to 30m

I don’t want to disassemble the whole thing to verify whether there is a gasket or some sort on the “valve” but I don’t want to damage the thing if I get it wet.

Anyone have the same watch and know more about it?
