Perspectives
Mindset Monday
Perspectives, are a strange bag to carry. To exemplify more precise, I am by no means a candidate for Road Rage, but have to admit that those vehicles that speed past me, must be operated by reckless daredelvils, while those who drive much slower than me, are an accident waiting to happen. That my speed and style of driving is somehow the standard, and norm, on how to drive in the appropriate manner, although absurd, is one many of us hold.
A general rule in my clinical practice, is that the person in the therapy chair, has their own identity, memories, learnings, and experiences of THEIR existence, and as such deserve the respect for the road map of their world as it has developed.
No good or bad, no right or wrong, just a non judgemental acceptance that this is their perspective. Similarly, the loud blare of a horn and the middle finger salute, I may receive from time to time, to remind me that I am not the expert driver I think I am, a person's comprehension of their world and the morphing of their perspectives are open for changes as well, and sometimes to the judgemental culprit.
I write this as both operator and observer, a very peculiar seat, recognizing in my reflective times, that I have held my opinions, thoughts and actions to a higher more credible standard that perhaps others. I have also experienced when someone else operates in exactly the same manner for themselves, much to my chagrin.
So as both human and hypnotherapist, I can admit and understand, and using myself as the best example I personally know, use the lessons to modify my perspectives and increase my compassion.
I am curious who may write or comment, but always welcome the questions and feedback.
Be well
