What's the online sphere like?

I've been really enjoying scarlet and I'm curious about how active the online side of the game is. I remember playing Pokemon sword and there always being tons of raids, and now that I finally got Nintendo online again, it seems so... Dead. Is it because I haven't finished the main story yet? Or is it just inactive?

The boils have improved dramatically since last time, I've been covering them with hydrocolloid bandaids and cleaning them, and resisting popping them except for today. Cleaning them right away and putting bandaids again!!
