Is it even a birthday if you don't spend $200 on books?
My 36th birthday haul
Just finished Immaculate Conception by Ling Ling Huang
Her writing is spectacular. She touches on so many poignant subjects in this one and they're all explored really well. I liked Natural Beauty just a smidge more than this one but they're both fantastic books.
CR: The Lamb by Lucy Rose
Just started this one, how did you all like it?
Classic 1960s unlikeable narrator, Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker ~ looking for similar proto-weird girl books
I'm 2 chapters into this one and I feel like this is definitely a predecessor to weird girl lit books with unlikeable messy narrators like MYORR or Jillian. It's about an extremely neurotic gay woman who returns home for her twin sister's wedding and acts terribly. Published in 1962.
I'm also looking for suggestions of other less well-known weird girl lit predecessors! (Like, other than The Bell Jar)
35/53 Confessions by Kanae Minato
Spending my Friday evening with this one, how did you all like it?
34/52 Circe by Madeline Miller
Absolutely loving this one so far. I decided to branch out from my usual genres and I'm so glad I did. Just finished chapter 9.
I keep bouncing off things that should be a "hit" for me, based on other things I've enjoyed. I'll list what I liked/ didn't like.

Went a little crazy supporting a few of my city's local bookstores today!
