Looking to Buy First Medium Format Camera

I have been shooting 35mm with a Pentax K1000 for 14 years now and am looking to purchase my first medium-format camera. I enjoy shooting fully manual and have been considering a Pentax 6x7.

Ideally, my max budget would be $600-800. My only concern with the Pentax is that it is very heavy compared to a 35mm camera. However, I like the notion that it sounds like it operates similarly to a K1000 but on medium format.

Does anyone have any advice and/or experience with the 6x7? Would this be a good transition camera from a long-time K1000 user?

Lisbon, Portugal 2025

I finally got back a roll of film shot in Winter 2025 in Lisbon. Here are a few of the photos.

Center City, Philadelphia

Just got a couple of rolls developed. Some of these photos are Fujifilm Superia 400, and some are Kodak Portra 400.

Been shooting sporadically for the past several years and am very excited to finally be diving back into film photography!

Krizia Uomo

Paid $20 at a thrift store for a basically full 25ml spray bottle of Krizia Uomo. Smelled it and immediately had to buy. This stuff is NICE!

It says “80°” on the back. Is this indicative of a vintage, original formulation? Most googling seemed to indicate yes, but I know very little about this brand.

Can You Help Me Date These Eau Sauvages?

I went thrifting today and found these two Eau Sauvages:

The EDT (1/3rd full) and the Aftershave Lotion (3/4 full).

Can you help me figure out what year these fragrances are from? The Aftershave has what I think is a batch code on the bottom that says 4C825, and the EDT has one that says 4705.

I paid a total of $40 for the two bottles, which I'm fairly sure was a decent deal, regardless!

Your Favorite Fragrances Released Before 2000

I have been trying a lot of vintage fragrances recently, and it got me wondering: what are some of your favorite fragrances that came out before the year 2000?

I haven't tried enough for a true top 10, but my favorites right now are:

YSL Kouros
Guerlain Mitsouko
Ralph Lauren Polo Cologne
Issey Miyake L'eau d'Issey
Acqua di Parma Colonia
Creed Bois du Portugal
Guerlain Habit Rouge

There are many classics I still haven't tried, like Guerlain Vetiver, etc. But loving the classics!

Just a Friendly Reminder: If You Liked At $150, You Should LOVE At $95

Unless something major has changed in the thesis of the company (which you could maybe argue the recent news has, but frankly, I think it is mostly the sentiment following the drop in share price), the fact that one should hate a company when it becomes more affordable per share is ridiculous.

To paraphrase Warren Buffett: If you're not thinking of owning a stock for 10 years, don't think about owning it for 10 minutes.

Will BABA work out as an investment over time? Who knows. That's why you should only allocate a percentage of your money that you feel comfortable taking a calculated risk on. You could lose everything, or you could make a hefty profit. That's investing in a nutshell.

Investing is a long-term game. You need to be patient and calculated with your bets. To see so much emotion and short-term reaction to price fluctuations and news articles is kind of ridiculous.

Full disclosure, I have held BABA for nearly 5 years now, and I am overall down. But I am adding slowly to my position as it falls. It makes up a relatively small percentage of my portfolio (like 3%), so I can sleep at night if it underperforms/tanks in the long run, but I have massive upside if it plays out positively in the long run.

My Current Lineup

https://imgur.com/a/2qr5pAQ

Here is my lineup:

Acqua di Parma Colonia & Colonia Essenza - the OG Colonia for when I'm out and about and just want to smell fresh, and the Essenza for when I'm trying to impress (date, etc).

Tom Ford Ombre Leather - When the weather is a bit cooler, and I just want some "oomph."

Roja Elysium - For dressier situations/formal events.

Terre D'Hermes - My go-to workplace fragrance.

Issey Miyake Le Sel D'Issey - When I'm out and about and I want something that's going to last all day. This one has my favorite longevity, especially for a freshie.

Comme des Garçons Incense Avignon - When I'm feeling more artsy: Going to a museum/movie/etc. This is one of my favorite fragrances, but I don't get too many opportunities to wear it.

I've come a long way from buying Montblanc Legend Spirit as my first fragrance around a year ago! I still have that bottle, but don't wear it anymore.
