Hip-hop artists and Rush

I saw a link to a post that DJ Premier (who is a famous DJ / producer for GangStarr, Notorious BIG, Rakim, and many many more) was backstage at a recent Rush gig and he was so happy.

It reminds me of an episode of B-Real TV (B-Real is one of the MCs from Cypress Hill) and he was talking about seeing Rush on the Snakes and Arrows tour and how funny the chickens were but how he was bummed that they didn’t play more hits.

Also makes me think about the rock and roll HOF induction. Can’t remember Chuck D’s comments and whether or not he was a Rush fan, but it was great watching them all perform together.

Do you know of any other examples of well known hip-hop / rap artists having a known interest / connection to Rush?

And yes I have memorized the whole roll the bones rap and I like it.

New Mazda3 availability / pricing?

Right now I have a 2013 Mazda5 6MT and it’s honestly the perfect car for me. But my ego wants to “want,” it doesn’t want to “have.” So I’m perpetually shopping for a new car.

Sometimes I do searches for new MT cars and sort by price and distance. It seems like there are always new Mazda3’s with a stick on the dealer lots right around MSRP. My question is, are there lots of these right now? I feel like for $30k I would buy an Si or a used Elantra N, but I’m just wondering if this trend is similar in other places, and if I should consider trying to shop around for a smoking deal on one somewhere / sometime.

Thinking about going from a Bridge Club to a Midnight Special

I’ve had a Bridge Club since Covid. Stock 700c build. It’s been a fantastic bike. However, I recently sold my road bike and now my BC is just feeling slow (for the record, I am definitely the weakest link in the speed equation).

Been thinking about selling it and building an MS as a speedier BC. Would want an upright build, front rack, full size frame bag, etc.

Has anyone gone from a BC to an MS? Do you think it will feel significantly better?

Type of riding is almost all road, with the occasional easy trail tossed in.

First ride

First ride on the Petcare. Overall very pleased. Stock except for Surly Open Bar that I had and some $10 Amazon pedals.

Wheels need to be trued but otherwise it put together pretty well out of the box. Old Tourney rear der is crap but it works well enough.

For an overall investment of $170 plus some parts bin bars, I’m incredibly pleased.

At 6 foot 3, it’s definitely too small for me, but I’m hoping my wife will like it. I can ride it fine, it’s just too small, but doesn’t really matter for the type of riding I’m going to do.

Thanks for everyone who talked about these on Reddit, I’m really glad I got one!
