Rear brake caliper sliding pin bushing help

Trying to replace the rear brakes on my 09 Mazda 5. One of the sliding pin bushings needed replaced and I am struggling to get the new one pushed in. The two times I was (somewhat) successful it ended up folded over and I am having the time of my life trying to get the crease out. What am I doing wrong and do any of y'all have any suggestions?

Is this 2014 mazda5 a good deal? 87k miles

What are your thoughts on this vehicle? Good buy? Things to look out for? Thanks!

Turns out if you drive the car on the limit of grip everywhere all the time it’s bad for the tires.

Rattling Noise Coming From Front of 2014 Sport

Recently purchased a 2014 Mazda5 sport with only 45k miles, about 2 weeks ago. I brought it to a mechanic for a prepurchase inspection before buying, in which they said there were no issues. I purchased out of my home state and drove back with no issues. A few days back, I started hearing a rattling sound from the front of the vehicle. To me it sounds wheel/suspension based (no expert by any means but I know a little), or maybe some plastic trim under the car was knocked loose. I have tried recording it but the audio isn't great, but can post if it might be helpful. It is way more noticeable at low speeds. likely do to road noise at higher speeds. It occurs when driving over uneven/bumpy road and seems to be focused on the driver side. But it's not as loud going over a speed bump as say driving over a rock. It's really strange and I've never experienced a sound like it. Kinda sounds like metal clanking. Can happen while accelerating, coasting and braking. No real other information to narrow it down at all

I needed to get a state inspection to register my vehicle in my state, so I asked if they would look at the noise as well. I left the car at the shop Friday and the mechanic said the noise is definitely not normal, but everything looked fine and even mentioned "Not sure where you got this thing but it's very clean." then mentioned that the only thing he could think of is the sway bar links didn't look bad, but looked cheap/unoriginal, but no guarantees that that is the issue. I left it as is for now, had to bring it back to the shop today after swapping a license plate light I didn't know was out so I could pass my inspection. Replacing the sway bar links was cheap enough (eh, moreso just wanted my "new car" to be clank/rattle free) so I just let them replace them in hopes it would solve my issue but it did not. He then mentioned that him and all of the mechanics at the shop also looked at the car and were unable to find anything wrong with the car at all. Worth mentioning this is not my regular mechanic, but a close by one that did state inspections that I thought I was bringing an easy problem to.

Before I go trying to bring this to my regular mechanic or anywhere else, is there any common issues I should know about? I did my due diligence research before buying the car but didn't see anything like this and I really hoped getting the prepurchase inspection would save me from dealing with things like this so soon into ownership. I'm enjoying the car but this is really driving me crazy

I'm getting to the point of seeing if I fold the third row seats back up will solve the problem or if I perhaps put something in the glove box that's rattling, something stupid like that. But I am hesitant to bring to another mechanic if they may not find any issues as well and just try something they think might work. Hoping the fine people of this sub might have further insight

EDIT: Including the video with best sound I could get

EDIT PT2: I went under the hood to check some of the things mentioned in the replies. Embarrassingly enough, I discovered the cover to the battery housing lost a clip and it was basically completely dislodged, definitely enough to rattle around while hitting some uneven ground. Should've looked under the hood before posting, but it JUST got back from the mechanic so I assumed they would've noticed it was loose. But sounds like they mostly had it on the lift looking at the suspension. Not saying it's definitely the culprit, trying to secure it as best as I can with a broken clip and give a test drive. Wasn't able to fully seat it in the work parking lot before driving home. Is there supposed to be a large gap in the side of the battery cover for airflow from one of the vents? If not, I'd say the bottom of the battery shroud is broken and there's potentially plastic sitting in the bottom of the engine bay somewhere which could also be the issue.

Will report back. Thanks for all the replies. Still checking the things mentioned to the best of my abilities, but at the moment kinda suspecting the battery housing

EDIT PT3: Secured battery housing as best as I could. No improvement at all so ruling that out. Editing post on mobile removed video so adding it as a reply

Coolant Change - First time on the Mazda5

I continue to work through my 2015 Mazda5 to-do list since I bought it earlier this year. Next up is a coolant change. I found this video which is pretty good, but different than the method I've used on other cars:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMXQUGiis20

The said he was following the Mazda procedure, but you know how that can go. The steps are, in summary:

  1. Drain coolant
  2. Drain reservoir (and clean)
  3. Rinse radiator and reservoir with distilled water
  4. Refill
  5. Run engine at 2500 RPM for five minutes, then run up to 3000 RPM for 5 seconds
  6. Let engine cool; check coolant and top off
  7. Repeat steps 5-6 until it is bled out

Here is what is different to me:

  • No running the engine during draining or change out
  • No cooling system flush
  • No running of heater (though this guy did it to be safe)

The top comment on the video indicates that this was done correctly and why do you don't do the flush or running of the engine. I'm going to troll Mazda 24/7 to see what I can find.

Anyone have experience with changing the coolant?

Skyactiv-G?

So, according to Wikipedia, there was a version of the 5/Premacy with the Skyactiv-G in it. Anybody know if Canada got this one since they got the van longer up there?

Since it was sold here and there, you might be able to import it without too much hassle.

Edit: Here's the source for the Skyactiv-G info: https://autoc-one.jp/news/1298098/

Air Con stopped working (Hottest day of the year in the UK!)

This morning, the air con in my wife's Mazda 5 was working perfectly, blowing ice cold. I just drove the car again to pick up the kids from school. Air con worked fine on the way there (impressively cold, I didn't want to get out of the car lol). Parked up and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later, start the car again and there is just warm air coming out of the air vents.

The A/C button is lit up. Climate Control is in Auto mode. I turned it off, waited 60 seconds and turned it back on again. No change.

I cranked the climate control temperature setting up to the high setting and it started blowing out hot air. I turned it back down again and it is still only blowing ambient temperature air.

I've used Forscan to collect engine data that I think might be useful. Unfortunately, I don't have any baseline data, because I didn't think to grab it before the problem started. I'll link the screenshots below. No relevant errors in any modules.

I've had a look in the engine bay, the accessory drive belt appears fine, no weird noises from that area. No obvious fluids anywhere that I can see.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what I need to do?

For it to suddenly change from working to not working, I presume it's not a leak of refrigerant (It would have gradually got worse over time?). So I'm guessing it's something to do with the compressor?

Show me your mods!

Just got my mz5. I know it's not a very popular car to modify, but I like to try to make my vehicles at least a little unique. Just want to see what others have done and I hadn't seen a post like this before. Also had some parts I've seen that I was interested in wanted to know if anyone had installed them before:

These illuminated door sills. Obviously seem pretty gimmicky and overpriced, but thought they might look cool if anyone had installed them or ever seen them?

I have a sport so I have no fog lights. I was looking to install something like this. Just install the whole housing replacing the blank one there. I am comfortable with the wiring, just didn't know how big of an overtaking replacing the actual housing is like if you have to remove the bumper or not? Also found these on Amazon which I think would look pretty cool

The interior lighting I find to be pretty dim. In my past vehicles I have replaced all my interior dome/map/cargo lights with LEDs and planned to do the same. But I saw on a Mazda forum that the trunk cargo lights aren't fused and replacing them with leds could blow a control unit, any experience with that? The link I followed on the Mazda forum was broken so I couldn't see the referenced post

Planning on doing a back up camera/CarPlay head unit. Anyone have the in dash mounting hardware that replaces the factory radio from crutchfield? Most of the aftermarket head units I see installed on these are the ones that pop out out of the dash or the cheaper Temu/aliexpress units that also replace the factory radio, but have read reviews that those units themselves aren't that great. Just wanted to see what a standard aftermarket head unit mounted in looks like

Lastly, getting a cargo mat for the trunk/third row folded down. Does anyone know if there are cargo mats for the back of the middle row seats for protection when they're folded down? I've looked and found canvas ones but they were a little pricey just for canvas and was really looking for a rubber/plastic one. Have seen them for other vehicles but not the mz5

Thanks!

Does anyone have a good Dash Cam recommendation?

I'm looking to get a dash cam for my 2008 Mazda 5 before I give it to my son. I'm looking for something that is easy to use, it should record automatically when you start the car. I'd also like to look at the footage from a phone if possible. Bonus points for easy to install and low profile design. Does anyone have any recommendations?
