Dear Old Fredonia

Dear Old Fredonia

Anybody got any insights or guesses as to why this song isn't on the Mystics anniversary boxes?

This is one of Steven Drozd's best ever tunes and I've loved it dearly for the last 20 years. Still not officially released anywhere, as far as I know. I thought it might be because of it just being his solo thing or because of some licensing issue - but "Smokin' a J" is on there; that's also from the film and I think that's just Steven? 🤷‍♂️

Link to the track.

One for the guitar/gear nerds - anybody know about a Jazzmaster on the 1966 tour?

From this morning's Guardian article about a forthcoming 1966 tour photograph book, I spotted this - white Fender Jazzmaster hidden behind some cabs/cases.

There's a documented occasion of John playing one of these (that belonged to Jackie Spelter) at a jam in Austria, although the dates for this don't appear to be 100% certain. I've never seen anything about it being in the US on that final tour or used on stage at all.

I very much doubt that there's any information about this - but is it the same one? Was it used during the show? I suppose it could belong to supporting bands etc. It's not mentioned in the Andy Babiuk book, so I'd assume it wasn't a Beatle thing...just seems an odd coincidence with the timing.

(Shoutout Google AI for giving absolute nonsense contradictory infactual responses to any sort of query ever 🤦‍♂️).
