Mint green and dark brown vertical bifold

Hey everyone,

I'm a leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia. I've been at it a few years now and usually try to combine the fun veg tan Italian leathers with some local kangaroo leather.

I just finished a vertical bifold with a pretty fun colour combo. This one is using a mint green leather called Azteca from one of my favourite Italian tanneries Conceria La Perla Azzura. It's relatively firm, has a buffed texture like pueblo, but still glossy and a bit more resistant to smudges. The interior is as usual a high grade, full grain, kangaroo leather that's been stuffed with fats and oil for a supple feel.

Details:

All hand cut, stitched, creased, and burnished

Three card slots plus two hidden pockets (fits 5-7 cards plus folded cash)

Mint green Azteca exterior, brandy kangaroo interior

Hand stitched with Vinymo MBT #8 Japanese thread in seaweed

Dimensions: 16 x 10.5 cm (unfolded)

$170 USD shipped to US, CA, UK, NZ via PayPal or Venmo friends or family

$220 AUD shipped domestically via BSB or PayID

Also available via Etsy

Bifold with additional flap

Hey everyone,

I'm a solo leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia. I've been mostly making wallets that combine sleek Italian leathers with some local rugged kangaroo leather. I just finished this bifold commission that was pretty fun!

It's a traditional bifold build with six pockets and a cash slot. The two card slot panels are also hidden pockets for additional cards or folded documents. It was also requested that there be an additional flap to hold an ID card and another card slot. It can hold roughly 12 cards and cash off the bat and perhaps more once broken in.

The exterior is a chestnut Italian veg tan, and the interior is a whiskey kangaroo leather from my local tannery Packer Leather here in Queensland. It's stitched with a Vinymo Japanese thread in a cigar brown color, and all edges have been heat creased and burnished.

I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, and hope the person who it was ordered for enjoys it for a long time!

Thanks for looking!

Gaucho Oil vertical bifold

Hey folks,

Just had a bit of time this week to make this vertical bifold using two colors of the same leather. Starting to actually use other leathers instead of kangaroo for the interiors.

This was made with leather from Conceria La Bretagne in Tuscany, Italy. Gaucho Oil is a vegetable tanned leather that comes out very glossy and sleek. It's absolutely beautiful. The exterior is natural tan and the interior is in a colour called Iroko bourbon.

The design holds 6-8 cards off the bat along with some half folded notes.

Edges have been heat creased and burnished to a glossy shine. And the wallet has been stitched together with Vinymo #8 in Cigar to match the exterior.

$170 USD shipped to the US, UK, CA

$220 AUD shipped domestically

Can purchase via Etsy or direct via PayPal/Venmo F&F or BSB/PayID

Do we like mint green?

Hey everyone,

I haven't posted here in a while but I wanted to share a wallet I made using this leather I used for the first time! It's a mint green leather from Conceria La Perla Azzura called Azteca. It's a similar look to pueblo but definitely a bit more glossy, I don't have to worry as much about smudging it. And the color really makes it pop!

What is your favorite buffed or pueblo-like leather to use? Between this one and a buffed version of gaucho oil, I might be leaning toward Azteca.

Anyways, details!

Vertical bifold build with 2 vertical slots, 1 horizontal pocket, and two hidden pockets. Holds about 6-8 cards and folded cash

Exterior: Mint green Azteca by La Perla Azzura

Interior: Brandy Kangaroo whip leather by Packer Leather in Queensland

Thread: Seaweed Vinymo #8

3.38 mm spacing, heat creased, burnished with tokonole, and polished with Columbus wax!

Two Shell Cordovan Vertical Bifolds

Hey everyone,

I just finished two interesting looking bifolds that are up for grabs. They both use different shell cordovans from Shell Cordovan Toscana Italia. Shell 1786 is a smooth shell cordovan, while their Metta Catarina is a hatch grain shell that is reminiscent of old fashioned Russian leather. The interiors are also different versions of gaucho oil from Conceria La Bretagne in Tuscan Italy.

My vertical bifolds are made to hold 6-8 cards and some folded cash and would work great as a minimalist front pocket wallet!

Edges are heat creased and burnished, and are stitched together with japanese Vinymo MBT #8.

Details:

Wallet 1:

Exterior: Whiskey shell cordovan 1786

Interior: Dark brown gaucho oil buffed

Thread: Cigar Vinymo #8

Wallet 2:

Exterior: Metta Catarina Shell Cordovan

Interior: Iroko bourbon gaucho oil

Thread: Medium brown Vinymo #8

Prices of either:

$215 USD shipped to US, UK, CA, and NZ (inquire for other countries)

$280 AUD shipped domestically in Australia

Feel free to ask for more photos, and thanks for looking!

Hatch culatta and gaucho oil bifold

Hey folks,

Just had a bit of time this week to make this vertical bifold using two awesome leathers. Starting to actually use other leathers instead of kangaroo for the interiors. This one was a commission!

The exterior is a hatch grain natural tan horse culatta (rump) leather from Shell Cordovan Toscana Italia. It has a lot of character and shows some natural marks through the embossed pattern.

The interior is a green gaucho oil leather from Conceria La Bretagne. Gaucho oil is a super glossy and pretty leather with a slight pull up!

The design holds 6-8 cards off the bat along with some half folded notes.

Marbled Shinki Shell Cordovan Vertical Bifold

Hey everyone,

I'm a leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia who mostly makes wallets that incorporate popular Italian and Japanese leather articles with some local kangaroo leather. Been cranking some wallets out lately and have this cool one that I finished tonight.

It's a classic vertical bifold with two vertical pockets and a horizontal card slot. The two card slot panels also double as hidden pockets for additional cards or some half folded cash, holding about 6-8 with cash off the bat before breaking in.

The exterior is a relatively rare marbled black shell cordovan from Shinki Hikaku called Advan. It has a softer feel compared to the usual shell cordovan from this tannery, and the marbled look is made by brush strokes of black dye over a natural tan shell.

The interior is also natural tan kangaroo leather from Packer Leather nearby me in Queensland, and is hot stuffed for a soft feel while retaining the strength of roo leather.

Finally it's stitched together with a Japanese Vinymo thread #8 in cream, heat creased, and fully burnished to a glossy shine.

I just finished this vertical flap wallet using some new shell cordovan from Shell Cordovan Tuscana Italia. It's a hatch grain shell with reddish tones! Hatch grain is an embossed pattern that originates from old Russian leathers.

I designed this flap wallet with two pockets that can hold up to 8-10 cards, plus the flap doubles as a side pocket to store cash or a frequently used card for quick access.

It's stitched with a Vinymo Japanese thread in a cigar brown color, and all edges have been burnished.

Buttero and kangaroo bifold

Hi everyone,

I'm a leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia. I've been crafting for a few years now, picked it up just as a hobby and it sort of grew from there. I'm a molecular biologist by trade and am just about to finish grad school so I've been trying to craft while job hunting. I really enjoy being able to use leathers from around the world and combining them with some local Australian kangaroo leather!

I recently finished this commission from a Redditor for a green bifold! It's a very classic template with 6 card slots, two hidden pockets, and a cash slot. This was the first time I tried to make thumbslots and man, creasing those were something!

The exterior is an Italian vegetable tanned leather called Buttero, by Conceria Walpier. It's a very popular leather among leathercrafters for its variety of colours and very smooth finish. The interior is a natural tan kangaroo leather from Packer Leather. This particular leather is drum-stuffed with waxes and oils so it has a very supple feel while still being strong as heck. Kangaroo is the strongest leather for its weight and is very sustainable as the wild populations of them can get chaotic, similar to deer. Finally, it's stitched up with a Japanese Vinymo thread #8.

Details:

Exterior - Green Buttero by Conceria Walpier in Tuscany

Interior - Natural Tan Kangaroo Leather by Packer Leather in QLD

Thread - Green Vinymo #8

Heat creased, burnished, hand stitched, etc.
