Hello everyone, I’m in search of a nice wallet. Got my first job and wanted to get something to commemorate it. I am looking for a skilled craftsman that uses exotic leathers / animal skins. Really want this to last a while and am up for any ideas
I'm sure this is a common request here, but I have looked around a lot and a lot of people say to ask on here for an independent leatherworker make one for you. I think that sounds awesome so if anyone is interested let me know!
Hey everyone,
I'm a leathercrafter based in Brisbane, Australia. I've been at it a few years now and usually try to combine the fun veg tan Italian leathers with some local kangaroo leather.
I just finished a vertical bifold with a pretty fun colour combo. This one is using a mint green leather called Azteca from one of my favourite Italian tanneries Conceria La Perla Azzura. It's relatively firm, has a buffed texture like pueblo, but still glossy and a bit more resistant to smudges. The interior is as usual a high grade, full grain, kangaroo leather that's been stuffed with fats and oil for a supple feel.
Details:
All hand cut, stitched, creased, and burnished
Three card slots plus two hidden pockets (fits 5-7 cards plus folded cash)
Mint green Azteca exterior, brandy kangaroo interior
Hand stitched with Vinymo MBT #8 Japanese thread in seaweed
Dimensions: 16 x 10.5 cm (unfolded)
$170 USD shipped to US, CA, UK, NZ via PayPal or Venmo friends or family
$220 AUD shipped domestically via BSB or PayID
Also available via Etsy
Thanks for looking!
so, i super fell in love with this purse after finally trying to get past my tomboyish ways and now that the cheap quality of said purse is showing(bad color fading/stitching coming loose, etc etc) im starting to consider upgrading to something more long lasting and better quality. unfortunately this style seems to be veryyy unpopular for real leather products so i was wondering if/how much recreating something like this would be?
ideally id like to keep its core values the same, but change smaller details to my tastes(ie make the fake front pockets actually useable, a thicker inner lining fabric)
at the moment i am not really looking to start a commission on this as i want to have sketches/a more solid plan, but i want to check in with people who work on things like these and see if a style like this is realistic and maybe a price range i can expect, the bag is very slouchy and soft and i see leather bags tend to be rather stiff looking sometimes so im unsure if ill have to accommodate my expectations in that way.
i thank you all for reading and sharing your feedback!!
Sometimes I hate the macro lens because it highlights details—or mistakes—that I don't notice with the naked eye while working. And with small items like watch straps, every tiny detail counts.
Hi everyone. Here's a 2-pocket bifold I've not long completed. The exterior is made from Rocado's marbled shell cordovan and the interior from Badalassi Carlo's No Fin leather. I've also stained the edges black, and saddle stitched with a waxed black thread to match the overall look. Tempted to keep it for myself but I thought I'd best offer it up first. I have it listed for £100 ($135) on my shop if anyone is interested. Cheers!

Looking for someone who can help make a custom leather bag.
I already have the design and vision. Right now I am looking for someone with experience working with leather who can help turn the idea into a real product.
I can source materials if needed. If you have experience making bags, clothing, or other fashion products, feel free to reach out and show me your work.
Hey everyone! Excited to share my latest completed commission with the sub.
My client wanted a custom jacket design inspired by classic Schott styles, and after a ton of care and adjustment, here’s the final piece!
The Craft & Process
Getting the Fit Right: I actually cut the pattern 2 separate times to get the proportions dialed into the client's measurements. During the process, I noticed the proportions felt a bit off around the lower body. I checked back with the client to re-measure, caught a mistake in the original hip and length specs, and adjusted before making a single cut into the main hide.
The Materials: I used an exclusively tanned oil pull-up leather. It was a absolute dream to work with; super soft, with a remarkably smooth flesh side that glided through the sewing machine.
The Lining: Paired it with a pre-washed, vibrant red checkered cotton lining that gives it that classic contrast look and really makes the pull-up leather pop.
Hardware: Built with sturdy YKK zippers all around.
Spec Summary
Leather: Custom oil pull-up leather
Lining: Pre-washed matching red cotton
Hardware: Heavy-duty YKK zippers
Commission Price: $550 USD (Includes shipping & taxes)
Overall, this was an absolute blast to build, and catching those measurement tweaks early saved the day!
📩 Open for Commissions
I'm officially taking on new custom orders! If you’re looking to get a custom piece made in this exact pull-up leather (or another style you have in mind), feel free to send me a DM.
Note on Lead Times: Each jacket takes roughly 40 days from pattern to final stitch. If you're looking to have a jacket ready in time for the colder months, please reach out as early as possible before the winter rush hits!
Would love to hear your thoughts or answer any questions about the build! 😄
It's been a while since I made my last wallet.
This was made for a dear friend, as a gift for his father.
