Vintage unboxing and prelim review: Avon Anew Day Cream
Hi all! I figured there had to be some people in here who found this interesting. First time posting here please be gentle!
So, my mum has a bit of a hoarding problem. Don’t worry, I’m not trying to save her anymore. But the last time I did, I took whatever seemed ‘useable’ and promised I would use it. I’ve been on a mission to pan everything since, but I’m also broke so that works for me.
When mums ex ex boyfriends mum died, she left a lot of Avon stuff. Mum took it ALL.
So for throwback Thursday we haaaaave - this day cream “with sunscreen”. I can’t see any mention of SPF anywhere. Does this predate SPF ratings?!
Packaging: plastic but nice, feels sturdy enough to throw in a handbag without worrying if the cap will fall off.
Scent: definitely perfumed but not a crazy amount. Honestly reminds me of Olay total effects, the pump is similar too. Faint white flowers, typical Avon, pleasant!
Application: one pump was surprisingly big once I got it started. I’m planning to use this on my décolletage on indoors days, I’m not mental enough to put it on my face. One pump would easily cover neck and cleavage, two pumps would get your shoulders too.
How it wears: a lovely glow at first, but sinks in really nice after a few minutes (the time it took to write this! While watching tv…). Not too matte, not too glowy. The patch on my left hand actually feels lovely and I’m sure in its day it was fine to put makeup on. Just gave it a good rub to test for pilling and it passes with flying colours! No grime or anything at all.
Overall: I really like it and I’ll answer any questions you have to the best of my ability, and I don’t mind putting my body on the line a little bit for science.
I’d love any info anyone has about this! How fucking old is it? I couldn’t see an expiry date!
TLDR: socially deprived skincare girlie tries super old Avon stuff. It is surprisingly good.
