Hello Hunter students,

I'm P.B. Hope, an adjunct professor in the Women and Gender Studies department. One of my current students recommended that I post here. This summer, I am scheduled to teach WGS100 Introduction to Gender and Sexuality Studies (#4204) May 28th - July 22nd Monday / Wednesday 6:00-8:20PM Online-Synchronous on zoom (break ~7:20-7:30). Unfortunately, we are currently two students short of the enrollment requirement. If that doesn't change by this Friday the 22nd, the course will be cut which will be a big loss to me and the students who are currently signed up. So I'm reaching out to invite you all to join my course.

I've included some information about the course, which fulfills the Pluralism & Diversity Category C/3 "Intersectionality and Social Justice" requirement and a link to the syllabus below. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Short Course Description:

My course is centered around the idea that true learning happens when we critically discuss our experiences with each other, rather than passively listening to an authority figure (whether me, the professor, or anyone else). In the first half of class, we explore what it means to create knowledge together and how that skill can empower us far beyond the classroom. In the second section, we explore a few key ideas of feminism as tools to help us critically explore ourselves and society. My goal is for you to leave the course better able to make informed and confident decisions about how to best live your truth, and maybe to have made a friend or two along the way.

All texts and materials are provided electronically.
