Alone at break time

They’re still a month of school left before summer break, and next year I’ll graduate from high school. I’m pretty excited because I’ll finally leave this shitty middle school behind.

It’s been like this since the end of February. I’ve been spending break time alone ever since. I don’t know if people just cut ties with me or if I simply drifted away on my own.

I’ve been alone during break time since February, when my best friend moved away. I had known her since 7th grade — she was my very first best friend in middle school. I approached her because she was new, and from then on we stayed friends until 9th grade.

Besides my best friend, I also had other friends that we used to spend time with. When my best friend wasn’t around, I stayed with them, but I never really felt included, so I would just sit on a bench and do nothing — just like in primary school, when I used to hold other people’s backpacks.

As for my other friends, they were very kind but also very popular. They had many friends so we just say hi when we see each other .my best friend and I would often go see them during break time just to say hi and talk a little.

Of course, in 8th and 9th grade we weren’t in the same class anymore. My best friend made other friends, and sometimes I felt excluded, though other times things were okay.

A few months ago, she moved away, and I quickly realized that while my best friend and I had been living in our own bubble, everyone else around us had already formed their own groups and found their place. Since then, I’ve been alone during break time almost every day.

Every now and then I skip school so I don't have to stay alone

I need some recommendations

I'm looking for novel recommendations based on what I liked reading: I’ve nearly finished Passion, and I'm currently reading Salvation Through Misconception 🙃.

I don’t necessarily want toxic novels only (. I also really enjoy novels with special powers, military/soldier settings, police or detective investigations, psychics, agents, or strong action plots, like in bug in amber or things that deserves to die.
