How can I add some healing to my level 6 Arcane Trickster?

Our party currently consists of a monk, a warlock, a sorcerer, and an Arcane Trickster rogue (me), all currently level 6. As you can imagine, apart from the warlock, we’re all pretty squishy and easy to hit, and we don’t have a real healer. The DM has noticed this, so he’s been giving us a few extra potions every now and then, but of course every fight is still risky.

I was thinking about steering my character a bit toward something that would let him do some healing. Based on his background and what we’ve experienced so far, it would actually make sense. The few ideas I have right now are:

  1. Taking some cleric levels, although that would feel a bit out of character, and I’d like to keep progressing as a rogue.
  2. Taking Artificer Initiate, which would be really nice from a roleplay perspective, but I’m not exactly sure how the spells would work. This is where I’d like some help understanding how the rules apply.

Any other ideas or advice? I’m not expecting to become a full healer, but being able to heal every now and then could be very useful.
