I noticed Laynes Chicken has been built on University near 82nd St. I live nearby and didn’t even notice the signs going up. However, I can’t for the life of me remember what used to be there. Was it a KFC?

I was driving near Tech campus this morning and saw at least 4 different school district suburbans driving around from far away districts (Tomball, Grape Creek, Axtell, Thrall, etc) all within a minute or two of driving! Driving away from campus I saw Canyon ISD
Does anyone know why they’re all here? I was just curious because I’m from the Tomball area so was shocked to see them because we’re 8hrs away. I know track just had regional meets and softball/baseball are in playoffs but these are all schools in different divisions (ranging 2A-6A) and way different regions.
Again, just pursuing my curiosity here!
