Interior Framing

We've completed the exterior red iron shell. Now planning interior framing. I'm considering steel framing. It'll be 2 floors. Relatively open floor plan. The span will be 20' floor truss/joist.

  1. Are there places you can give drawings to and they give you a framing package? We did this for the exterior and I'm interested if we can do the same for the interior.

  2. is the cost much more for steel vs wood? Example: were going to need 27 - 20ft floor trusses and 27 - 17 ft floor trusses. What the cost difference between these? The difficult part is I'm not finding steel trusses for sale, like I can find for wood. Do you know of any places that sell this in the Inland NW?

Thanks for the help!

Shouse/barndo plan

We're in the midst of building a 50'x100' Shouse. 20'-30' x 50' for the living space. We're having difficulty deciding on the layout of the area with stairway, powder room, W&D, pantry, and utilities. The exact dimensions are not set overall the space is 20'x50', then about 30'+ on the far side.

Entry on the right is from the shop. Need the toilet easily accessible from the living room and the shop.

Pantry needs to be a good amount of space because there's not a ton in the kitchen. We also have 3 freezers, but a couple can go in the shop.

Utilities need to be on the back outside wall. (Electral panel, water heater, HVAC). W&D in the house, maybe in the powder room?

A big problem is all the unneeded space upstairs around the stairs.

Also, what direction should the stairs go? I think the stairs opening across from the owner's suit, in case the kids come down needing help in the middle of the night. Other option is up the other way then it's easy to come in and go straight upstairs.

Thanks in advance for any tips or ideas!
