Anyone actually gone the virtual assistant philippines route? trying to figure out if its worth it
Been looking into this for a few weeks and I'm getting really mixed signals. Some people swear hiring a virtual assistant philippines side was the best move they ever made, others say they got burned bad.
For context I run a small coaching business, around 12 clients, and I'm doing all of it myself. Emails, scheduling, invoicing, chasing leads. It's maybe 15 to 20 hours a week of pure admin and it's killing any chance I have to actually grow.
I've looked at upwork and onlinejobs ph but the sheer number of options is overwhelming and I can't tell who's actually good. Rates seem to run 5 to 15 an hour, way cheaper than hiring here, but I keep reading about people getting ghosted or the quality dropping off after month one.
For those who did this, what actually worked? Did you hire direct or go through an agency, how long before they were genuinely useful, and what red flags should I be watching for?
