Chicagoland Storms

Chicagoland Storms

Hello to all my fellow Illinois Base users. I finally got to really put my system to the test today. After the severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings in Plainfield, my power was “out” for about 6 hours before finally being restored. I have a single 25kWh battery in a rather larger house and when the electricity came back on we still had about 66% battery life left.

For a a house that is ~4000 sq ft, I really can’t complain about how well it did. No disruptions and I was the only one in the neighborhood with power during that time. Even the small hospital down the street was rationing power and only really had the ER up and running. We could still use Internet and watch TV and really do whatever we wanted (with a slight increase in AC temp to keep the batteries going longer).

I have been told that I will be upgraded to the new 40kWh battery in the fall, so I am sure that will do even better. I also plan to grab a portable tri-fuel generator to handle longer outages. This has been the longest outage we have had since moving in to our house in 2022.

If you are in Illinois and still on the fence, I strongly suggest you get the system while the deal is ongoing ($95 install, 25% savings). And of course, use my referral so we can both get $250:

Connecting Eero Hostspot backup to Tmobile 5G

Hey everyone, so I am trying to set up a failover. I have an Eero pro 7 that is connected to fiber internet. I was able to get tmobile 5G home internet backup for less than $10 a month and I want to figure out a way to set the Tmobile 5G WiFi as my hotspot backup. I have run into a few issues and wanted to see if anyone has had any success with this.

I have read that it can be difficult because tmobile uses CGNAT and this can cause connection problems. Has anyone found a work around? If so, what did you do to get the setup to work?

Thanks everyone!

Setting up backup internet with my Eero

Hi,

New to the community and a little bit of a novice with eero.

I got the eero with my MetroNet fiber. I have 2 eero Pro 7 and 1 eero 6+. My fiber connection from MetroNet comes into my basement and connects to one of the pro 7. My T-Mobile 5G backup modem and router is upstairs near a window and near the eero 6+. I want to find a way to have failover protection should my fiber go out, allowing me to use the T-Mobile backup. All of my eeros are connected to each other using cat5e to continue the 1gig network across the house.

Is there any way to do this?

Happy to offer more details about the setup
