Iridescent Bicolored Sweat Bee, Ontario Canada

Just bought a macro lens and this was the first guy to show up. Had to research what it was. Crazy colored interesting bug, apparently gets it's name from thier love of licking up your salty sweat lol. And apparently the official bee of Toronto 🤷‍♀️.

Yellow Bellied Sap Sucker Sucking Sap

This guy always visits my magnolia tree for some treats. You can see all the rings of scarring from visits in years past. He will usually come back and check on things later as the sap can also attract insects for a bonus meal.

FINALLY! Found Them In Ontario Canada

These guys were all but wiped out in Ontario due to DDT pesticide, leaving only 3 known unsuccessful breeding pairs in the 1980's. So you might have had better luck searching for Bigfoot lol.

But found these 2 beauties early this morning on our lake in Central Frontenac, Ontario Canada. Some estimates say we have up to 2000+ nesting pairs now in Ontario. They seem to be making an amazing comeback!

Made waking up at 4am worthwhile lol...
