RTINGS retested the LG G6 on Firmware 43.11.67 - [ Now rated 9.2 ]

If you own a G6, this is worth knowing.

RTINGS just re-ran their full test suite on the LG G6 after LG pushed firmware 43.11.67 and the score jumped to a 9.2 overall.

--

What it actually fixes:

  • Judder during camera pans : Cleaned up. The micro-judder that bugged motion-sensitive viewers has been heavily reduced.
  • HDR highlights looking a little flat : Fixed. Tone mapping (PQ EOTF tracking) is now noticeably more accurate, so bright scenes pop the way they're supposed to.
  • Glare in a bright room killing the picture : Mostly gone. Combined with the brightness fix, reflections are now barely an issue even with lights on.
  • Calibration drifting after HDR adjustments : Tightened up across the board, pre- and post-cal.

--

RTINGS' breakdown:

  • Mixed usage : Perfect black levels, zero haloing, and genuinely brilliant SDR peak brightness
  • Home theater : HDR and Dolby Vision highlights have real pop now
  • Bright room : Reflection handling + the new brightness numbers make daytime viewing a non-issue
  • Sports : Fast motion is crystal clean, response times feel near-instant, zero transition artifacts
  • Color & motion : The micro-judder problem is basically solved

--

The bigger picture here isn't really about the G6. It's that firmware updates are starting to meaningfully move the needle on review scores months after launch; which says something about how much headroom these panels actually have when manufacturers keep optimizing post-release.

Trade-offs

Pros Cons & trade-offs
✔️ Truly flush wall mount - no visible protrusion ❌ $1,000 premium over G6 for design alone
✔️ Zero Connect Box hides in a drawer up to 10m away ❌ Zero Connect Box still needs its own placement
✔️ Same flagship panel & picture as G6 ❌ Power cable still required to the screen - not 100% wireless
✔️ Reflection Free Premium - Intertek certified ❌ Only 77" and 83"
✔️ 4K 165Hz for PC gaming ❌ 9mm thicker than original 2017 W7 (2.57mm)
✔️ Built-in speakers ❌ No HDMI 2.2 or Dolby Vision 2 (same as G6)
✔️ 5-year panel warranty Cabinet near box may cause wireless interference
✔️ Gallery+ motion sensor auto-displays art when you enter Zero Connect Box must be placed lower than TV receiver

--

W6 Targeted Users :

  • Interior-first buyers
  • PC gamers : 4K 165Hz on a 77- 83" OLED
  • Art enthusiasts : Gallery+ with motion sensor
  • Clean installs : Zero cable clutter in living spaces

--

Decision Points :

  • Want the W6 like design experience : W6 is the only option. Nothing else is 9mm + True Wireless.
  • Want same picture and save $1,000 : Get the G6. Same panel, same processor, wired inputs on-board.
  • Need a 42"– 65" size : Choose C6 or G6 instead.
  • If budget is the priority : C6H 77" gives you Tandem panel at ~$2,999

CNET : LG G6 cures black crush, but loses its color crown to the G5 [ 2026 ]

__

CNET just kicked off 2026 TV reviews with the LG G6, and the engineering trade offs are fascinating.

  • The Good: Unbelievable shadow detail (revealed background objects completely missing on the G5) and a spectacular "Reflection Free" coating that rivals Samsung's anti-glare.
  • The Bad: It's objectively less color accurate than the G5, slightly slower input lag (13.57ms vs 9.87ms), and struggles with side-angle green tinting.
