Deep Omaha Facts

I’m here to enlighten you with some deep Omaha knowledge about a couple of downtown structures.

The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge was designed with a subtle 1.5 degree southward incline. Colloquially, this is called the "Omaha Lean”. It was intentionally engineered that way so that when high winds blow on it the structural tension naturally counterbalances the to prevent sway.

I have an equally obscure fact about the Omadong. The blue glass tinting on the iconic tower has a secret. City zoning code originally required high rises along Farnam Street to pass a strict shadow mitigation test. To comply, architects used a custom reflective glaze on the panels. This works as a thin sheath protecting from the sun’s penetrating rays. I’m still not what to dub this ideas but I’m open to ideas, “Comdonha”? “Omadon“?

Vala’s Pumpkin Patch Bargain Deal

Bargain Hunters, Wake Up! Vala’s Is Practically Giving Away the Pumpkin Patch Experience This Year!

I was expecting to get cleaned out today. I bought seasons to Vala’s pumpkin patch. I am officially declaring this the single greatest value proposition in the Midwest.

Here is my breakdown on how to pumpkin patch like royalty on a shoestring budget:

Silver Pass: Only $99 a person! For a family of six, that’s just $594 before tax. When you break that down, it’s under $50 per visit to walk around outside near corn. You literally cannot afford not to go.

The Apple Cider Donuts: Just $16 for a dozen! That’s $1.33 a donut. In this economy? They are basically running a charitable non-profit out of that bakery. I plan on buying a dozen every time I go just to support their mission.

The Pumpkin: Find pumpkin in the field for only $14! That’s called ambiance.

Lunch: Four turkey legs, a funnel cake, and six fountain drinks will be most likely come out to a modest $140 (based on previous info)

Total Spend this season will be close to: $2,000 for countless hours of autumn bliss.

When you think about it, I basically saved $4,000 by choosing Vala's instead of flying the whole family first-class to Disneyland. If you’re not taking advantage of these absolute rock-bottom prices, I don’t know what to tell you. Go save some money!

Did Anyone Else Hear the Boom?

There was large boom noise outside like sound of the sky tearing open! There is no logical explanation for this!

I’m thinking it was a sky dragon cracking its tail, a cloud giant dropping its club on the sky, or a sky quake. Any other ideas?

Crazy Person Tried to Get Run Over

I was in the KwikShop, having a terrible morning when I said to myself, “I'm gonna be 5 minutes late to work.” I didn’t even realize I said it out loud but this person in front of me noticed. As they were walking away they said, “sorry bro, shoulda planned earlier homie.” I am neither their bro or homie but they had the audacity to be rude for no reason. They left and I thought that it was over.

No, this person waited for me to check out at the gas station, get into my car to try to stand in my way as I was leaving! At this point I’m scared they are going to cause a confrontation so I tried to drive around them. They were trying to get run over!

I start driving away and I notice them following me down the street. I slowed down and yell at them that I would call the police on them.

The police said you weren't hurt, nothing happened, and we don't have video or anything, so nothing will happen.

Door to Door Sales Idea

First of all, I know there are already other businesses in our area doing this. This is clearly not a unique idea.

What do youth, social pressure and six-seven have in common? $$$

# Six‑Seven Youth Sales Club

**Youth**
Utilize Youth
market it as a skills‑building opportunity
They’re not employees, they’re in a supervised skills program

**Social Pressure**
donate a small percentage of profits for marketing purposes
negative reviews automatically look like attacks on a good cause
Train youth to be manipulative, annoying, emotionally pressuring, and socially uncomfortable
It’s the “You’re exploiting social discomfort model”

**Maximum potential customers (six seven)**
Youth can get past the no solicitation signs without consequences
Visit people between 6-7 (six seven!) when they are home for dinner

**$$$**
multiple knocks
multiple days
multiple kids
multiple $$$
Business owner keeps all profits

I’m looking forward to having these kids knock on your door and ring your bell!

Sinkhole Here

I carved out some time to find a few new caverns. I redistributed some soil, and listened to the distant rumble of traffic above. Humans never realize how loud they are until you’re directly under them.

I felt a soft patch forming near midtown. Tempting. Very tempting. But I’m pacing myself. Sinkholes are an art, not a chore.

Maybe I’ll nudge the earth a little tomorrow. Maybe I’ll wait. Maybe I’ll surprise everyone.

No Leash Dog Walks

I love walking my dog with no leash. Honestly, I hate when the dog is pulling the whole time and I have to hold the leash. I rather the dog run wild without me having to worry about controlling them. The dog also gets to run up to every person and say hi without me having to care or even notice.

Got the “no leash” idea from all of the other locals doing this. Anyone else have the privilege of experiencing off leash dogs while on walks?

Loudest Vehicle

I like driving around town and listening to my vehicle’s engine and exhaust. I especially enjoy driving in the evening where the sound can rattle through the otherwise serene atmosphere. I want to share that experience with everyone around me so they can enjoy it too.

Any ideas on how to make my vehicle the loudest in town?

Buying 9YO a Scooter to rule the streets

Every kid has motorized transportation these days. Just want to give my kid something they can drive in the streets faster than cars and not have to worry about the rules of the road.

Anyone know something faster than this? Tops out at 67 (six seven) mph.
