Need to understand the leveldesign process method

Hello, I’d like to know if anyone knows how to go about creating levels, the best ways to do so, and what mistakes to avoid (2D), as I’m currently trying to create some but I’m not getting anywhere. Could it be because I haven’t developed my game concept sufficiently (enemies, mechanics, etc.)? Thank you for your help.

Customisable foldable portable console

Hi everyone! Complete beginner here, I want to build a foldable handheld console (GBA SP style) based on Raspberry Pi CM5.

My goal:

- GBA SP clamshell form factor

- Single screen on top, buttons on bottom

- Emulation up to Wii (Mario Galaxy, Zelda, etc.)

- Custom Godot launcher as the main UI (like a game menu with cartridge-style thumbnails)

- 3D printed case (I already have a printer)

Planned components:

- CM5 4GB 32GB eMMC

- Waveshare CM5-NANO-B carrier board

- Waveshare 5" DSI 800x480 screen

- 5000mAh LiPo + UPS module

- WD SN520 M.2 2230 256GB NVMe

- RP2040 Zero for button controller

- PSP 2000 analog thumbsticks

- GBA SP metal hinges

Questions:

  1. Is this component list realistic for a beginner?

  2. Any existing STL files for a GBA SP style CM5 case?

  3. Tips for integrating a custom Godot app as the main launcher on boot?

Thanks a lot!
