Has anyone else had an absolute nightmare trying to buy a house? 😩

We sold our house, moved in with family to make ourselves chain-free, and thought that would make things easier… famous last words 😂

House #1 fell through after surveys threw up issues (that was a whole saga in itself).

House #2 we had an offer accepted, but the sellers have spent weeks/months unable to find anywhere and we’ve been stuck in limbo waiting.

While all that was dragging on, House #3 came up, we fell in love with it, and have now had an offer accepted on that too (subject to survey)… so this is now our THIRD attempt at buying a house 😵‍💫

I know sales and purchases fall through all the time, but honestly this process is so stressful and emotionally exhausting.

How many people here have had a sale or purchase fall through? What happened in the end? Did it work out better, worse, or did it just cost you your sanity? 😂 I’d love to hear some real stories because right now I feel like we’re living in a property soap opera

Pen storage once used

Hi I stupidly bought a 40mg pen but only inject 2mg. I thought I could use it till it ran out but I looked online and it says 8 weeks max. It comes with 10 needles but I’ve bought extras so theoretically could last 20 weeks! Obviously that’s too long but how long has anyone kept their pen before throwing out? I’ve had mine in the fridge the whole time and I’m on week 6

Thanks 🫶

How much do other peoples opinions influence your house choice?

We’re in the process of buying (chain free) but the house we’re buying is not proceeding due to them not finding onward purchase. It’s a blank canvas and only 10 years old. The family likes it well enough and can see the potential. I’m gutted that it’s possible going to fall through a it ticks loads of boxes

We have another house in the frame that was previously out of our budget. Complete opposite. Period property that’s got a quirky layout but it’s 3000sq ft and in a lovely village. Ticks completely different boxes.

The work needed on this house is more around replacing windows, opening some rooms, creating an en suite, replacing the kitchen. The photos aren’t great but I thought the house had amazing curb appeal. It’s an objectively pretty house

I took my dad to a second viewing and he loved it. Says we should offer. But my daughters are being really negative. They’re never negative about things like this. It’s making me second guess our choice. They could see the potential in the other house. This one they’re just not.

The vendors are chain free. Already bought another house so this could proceed quickly. But I’m not feeling excited. I’m still attached to the first house. It’s light and airy and flows really well. The period house is more cozy and a little dark. Ina little scared about what a survey could uncover. The owners have been there 40 years. I’m so torn 😩

Have you ever been buying a house and just have a gut feeling that it’s just not going to happen?

Offer accepted 10 weeks ago, the seller still hasn’t found anywhere and doesn’t want to go into rented. I can’t see an end in sight, so we are viewing other houses. I just feel like the universe is telling me something. The house we are going to see was one of my favourites that we viewed but it was 50k too expensive. It’s just dropped by that 50k so we are doing a second viewing with my dad. I don’t know what to do if we like it. Do we offer on it and see what happens? Do we pull out of the other one then offer? What do people do in this situation?
