I acquired this 1952-1953 Sear's Silvertone 2056 AM radio and am not sure where to begin.

The power cord had deteriorated, so I wired in a standard polarized 2 prong cord and tested the unit. The dial light came on and the AM band worked fine for about 5 minutes. I turned the unit off for about 10 minutes and then tried again but this time there was no sound; only the dial light.

This brings me to some questions:

The chassis is 132.06 4 which seems to be harder to find manuals for. Is the 132.06 3 manual suitable?

All components are likely original and will need new condensers. What is the best source to find replacement parts?

Is there a good all around resource for learning about troubleshooting antique radios? I work with modern automation and electronics but have never worked with vacuum tubes or anything this old.

Is there any value to this? It looks like a fun project but I don't want to potentially ruin something if this is a valuable unit, and I can't find any info for this particular unit.

Anyone have experience working in controls for Coca Cola or McMaster Carr, or heard anything about them?

I've been a maintenance tech for years and want to transition to controls. I have an offer from one place and a second interview with the other, but I just can't find any reviews at all regarding maintenance at McMaster Carr. There are other job titles and they all say it's a horrible place, but you can't always compare production and maintenance experiences, so I'm just wondering if any of you have worked there or know people who have, and how it actually is?

Looking for the 4 rubber corner bumpers only. They're not available in the parts section of the website. Any other way to buy them, or has anyone removed theirs and want to sell?

I removed the annoying drawer handle latches from the 42" US General toolbox and repurposed them as screwdriver holders.

They nest together perfectly so it just took a pair of side cutters and some super glue to make it work.
