What costs did you incur by sending a telegraphic transfer from a Hong Kong HSBC account to an overseas bank account?

I’m planning on doing this and would like to know others’ experiences of costs incurred, hidden or otherwise, so I can compare that with what HSBC Hong Kong tell me.

Can REAs withhold property sale price information from being published on propertyvalue.com.au?

I have been using propertyvalue.com.au (Cotality) to verify the accuracy of sale prices published on the Real Estate app but have discovered that they are not available for certain properties.

While I found both price matches and differences between the two platforms, I have also found that some property sale information is not available on the website, as certain property addresses are absent.

This leads me to consider that real estate agencies may with purposefully withhold information.

Do you know the answer to this?

The lack of affordability in property is depressing. It is demotivating, and there doesn’t seem to be much to look forward to.

When I was growing up, I would have looked down at the idea of living in a unit or townhouse complex, as it is far inferior to the house my tradie father owned in my childhood.

Now I’m a so-called educated professional (high school teacher), and this place far outstrips what I can afford. Meanwhile, my parents live in an even better suburb and home than I grew up in and talk of selling their IP to put it into super.

It’s just depressing and demotivating. Do I have to be a FIFO to live in a place that resembles what I grew up in?

Sydney gang rapist, Mohamed Ghanem, was facing up to 20 years in prison in 2019 due to his involvement in a drug supply ring, but there are no news articles on the outcome of his court case.

This scumbag who was one of the animals in the Sydney gang rapes in 2000, where a gang of teenagers of Lebanese ethnicity specifically targeted ‘Australian’ females to sexually assault and gang rape (BY THEIR OWN ADMISSION during these attacks).

Not long after his release on parole, which was mercifully granted by the Australian authorities, scumbag Mohamed Ghanem was re-arrested in a drugs supply sting.

Despite media coverage at the time, there does not seem to be any coverage of the actual court case and outcome. Why? We already have the predatory scumbag Belal Hajeid and the re-arrested drug dealer, Mohamed Skaf, who pose a threat to the daughters of Australia.

Do autumn-coloured leaves exist in Canberra during June-July? If so, where might I find them?

G’day, folks!

I’ll be visiting Canberra during the end of June and beginning of July. I’m unfamiliar with the city, but I’ve seen attractive pictures of red, yellow, and brown leaves on trees at various locations (such as King Edward Terrace, if I’m not mistaken?).

Are these still around at this time of year, or am I too late?

Thanks a lot!

People here seem to view the housing shortage as due to EITHER investors OR mass immigration. Yet, haven’t BOTH issues contributed significantly to what was and is a shortage?

Why aren’t Redditors interested in discussing a multi-pronged approach to tackling the housing shortage issue? Or are many of them more interested in taking a particular political side on it for self-serving reasons, such as financial interests or self-identity?

The lack of consideration for BOTH factors makes me wonder if anything can happen that will actually lower house prices over the long term?

What are your predictions about apartment prices in the Bruce/Belconnen areas with the housing market slowing?

To those who are looking to buy – or already own – a 2-3 bedroom unit in the Bruce/Belconnen areas, how much do you think their price will move over the next year or two?

Some of them appear to strata traps with overblown prices after COVID.

Does time in the market apply to outer Melbourne suburbs in 2026?

With housing market prices slowing, “stagnating”, and, in some cases, dropping across the country, is 2026 the right time to take on mortgage?

In particular, I am thinking about the new developments at the low end of the market in outer Melbourne suburbs, eg. Fraser Rise, Tarneit, Truganina, Wyndham Vale, etc.

Might it be better to wait for next year to see if they drop (somewhat)? I have seen the Real Estate app list price drops for a fair few houses in Ballarat, but the Western Suburbs of Melbourne seem to be high population growth areas, so that might not be the case there.
