This is part of the fanfic of this subreddit. Please read it all! This is to sort out the world building of the subreddit. If you have any suggestions, critiques, or anything else, let me know.

First up, I have decided to place this story in the geography from the LotM world. This means that Loen and all those places will be canon and taken into consideration. Currently, the only places that exist in the RP is basically the Northern and Southern continents. Neither the west nor the east have appeared or Australia and Antartica, I believe. Feel free to correct me on that if I’m wrong.

In terms of my timeline, the timeline I made will still hold true, but in order to not throw anything off by changing epoch names, I will call the period prior to the Pre-Epoch, in terms of this fanfic, the Old Era (stolen from u/LuckySwordBR’s recent post).

This Old Era will be our modern world and the OC will awaken, reshape the world and cause the beginning of the Pre-Epoch (creation of the subreddit). The awakening of the OC lead to all the characteristics, uniquenesses and sefirot we have today. However, unlike canon, there were never any other GOO.

The GOO we have today, the mods, are from an alternate history. While I’m still awaiting confirmation of many of their roles that they choose, u/papigodd (the founder of the subreddit) will be the OC from that alternate history. As such, when the alternate history appeared into our history, u/papigodd kept the two from converging. However, the OC of our dimension was weaker and got merged with u/papigodd, becoming one, with u/papigodd as the main personality.

This explains why we can have gods of the pathway like any from the cowardly trio whilst still having a LotM like u/StrangleShinobi [thank you u/Square_Wasabi1338 and the RP mod team for coming up with this].

Banning is often referred to here as being sent to the cosmos, but it can also be used as a seal, as per any Door apotheosis. Therefore banning, in terms of fanfic canon will be a seal, the character being sealed and hidden by the GOO (mods), perhaps in the cosmos. I will also note that the mods are benevolent towards us.

I will also note, that all rituals will be kept as faithful as possible to what is posted here. Sometimes this may require adjustments though. Other events will also need adjusting. For instance, the Monster vs Hunter war will likely be transformed into an actual war with battles in the fanfic.

If there is anyone who has yet to send me their details or comment them and are critical to the RP, please do so! I would greatly appreciate it and it would be nice for you to be in charge of your own character so I don’t screw something up.

If you are asking yourself: "Am I critical to the RP?” My two very basic selections are 1) you are, or have been, a sequence four or above and/or 2) you appear on my timeline.

The fic will be based off this timeline. The timeline is incomplete so I’ll be posting an updated version in the future. But in any case, the fic will be starting around the Monster vs Hunter War and probably ending around the time of u/Odd_Arrival_5789’s End of Epoch announcement (in other words, it’ll go from the first epoch til the end of the third epoch).

However, because of this, there is a large cast of characters. Therefore, if you, especially those integral to any parts of the RP like the gods (present or former), wish to be included with specific details like name, age, gender, appearance, place of birth, personality, backstory and such, leave a comment or DM me and I’ll try to ensure that they are included.

Names must sound like actual people, hence why Big Anxiety can’t just be a name. However, usernames like Gakamis, I will accept as your name. However, if I’m failed to be given a name, then I’ll just invent one based on your username (the connections will be very loose). Also, the age must be of a reasonable value. You can’t be 16 and be a True God.

As for place of birth, that will depend on whether or not I set this in the real world or the LotM world. I’m debating between the two, but our world seems easier as I don’t know where all the rp and deities and such took place and have set up camp. Our world also lends to more diversity and more avenues for me to research. But I’m open to either.

Backstory, must once again, remain reasonable and consistent with your character and the timeline itself.

If a comment or a dm is not left, I will take it upon myself to try and investigate you to determine this sort of thing. It will be a cursory look and only if you are integral to the RP. For instance, if u/Odd_Arrival_5789 does not leave a comment or DM, I will instead use Hades from RoR as my basis instead.

Characters like u/Ezcu123 who have actively expressed no gender or ambiguity will have they/them pronouns in the story unless they express otherwise.

This means that the story will be covering a lot of ground. Because of this, as well as the large, and constantly shifting roster of characters (which makes it hard to write a story), the main character will likely have to be an Original Character (OC). This is because there is simply no one who exists in all the timeframes and is relevant enough for me to be able to use them. Besides, that’d feel weird to me, writing as an actual person that exists.

In any case, the OC will likely be on the Monster pathway, purely because of the start of the fic and it is a nice way to ensure involvement, as well as the rituals being hard enough for me to justify them taking a long ass time to rise up the sequences. I’m debating between starting at sq9 or sq5 or 4 atm, but I’ll make up my mind eventually.

However, the highest sequence they will rise to is sequence 2. They will never oppose users like u/theBloodyBunny58 or u/Big-Anxiety-2569. They could oppose someone like u/Less_Pumpkin_8622, but it might never happen. It’d be complicated to try and connect them all to every major event, but hey, they have fate on their side (another reason I chose monster).

Now, to address the world building. Outer Deities, GOO, and Mods.

If we assume that the Mods are GOO like we do here in the RP, that means that someone like u/StrangleShinobi, who has claimed the throne of CW/LotM, would block deities of that pathway from existing.

The only solution I can think of rn is to have all Mods have completely individual pathways. Mods, if you wish to have specific symbolism, authorities, or abilities in any pathway that I may construct for you, let me know via comment or DM and I’ll try and construct one for you with the help of you and the community.

If there are other solutions, please let me know. I don’t wanna come up with that many pathways (granted I could also steal existing fan pathways, so if anyone has really good ones, let me know.)

Also, the rituals. They have mostly been translated into Reddit terms and the rituals will be kept as close to what is depicted, but in cases like Remarkable Back’s Bum plague, it will likely just be a plague that is spread. I’m unsure of the finer details here. I’ll figure it out.

I will try to be faithful to all the posts I have collected. However, I will probably have to diverge on some cases, we will see.

In short, I request the details of your characters, and the details of the world map of the RP and help with the pathways. If you want other details to be included, feel free to drop them below or in my DMs, I may include them. This could include OCs, small RPs that I don’t include in my timeline, fan pathways, fan made sealed artifacts, and so on (leave them as links with a short description unless they are decently short).

Sherlock Holmes is a world class detective, the best of the best. And he has decided to investigate the origins of Great Old Ones. Whilst doing so he has come to many conclusions. This is a documentation of these conclusions.

From a Watsonian level, Sherlock suspects that the Primordial Hunger, as the embodiment of convergence, was likely the last child of the Original Creator and the Mother Goddess of Depravity. This is because convergence is still a symbolism of the OC and thusly would likely be harder to separate. It being last would also ensure that a) all the other GOO didn’t just converge together and b) explain why the OC had to take a nap, with a portion of his convergence symbolism gone, the OC, as seen, is more likely to separate than converge.

From a Doylist perspective, the being could be inspired by Apep from Egyptian Myth who is known as the Devourer of the Sun. He could also been seen as the embodiment of Convergence that is solely, Sherlock suspects, from LotM. He is also likely inspired by Azathoth who is described as, “…gnaws hungrily…”.

Sherlock suspects that the Tail Devourer pathway is a clear reference to Ouroboros and the act of eating one’s self. However, a more likely influence is the Chinese Taotie which is linked with gluttony, the sq 0 name of Tail-Devourer translates as Gluttony or Taotie.

The sequence four could be a reference to Jormungandr, the mythical serpent from Nordic belief that eats his own tail until the destruction of the world.

• This can only be done with one individual at a time

Words of Cause - able to stir reverence to whichever deity is being spoken of

Bring reverence and belief by your actions, have people look at you in shock and awe, maintain a sense of holiness during all encounters

Stir - they are now able to conduct the ability upon people they are not as close with, but there must be a relationship of some kind.

Words of Cause - a larger area of effect, able to influence an entire church of people to feel the reverence towards the deity

Equalising - it can now influence the mind. If there is an overwhelming amount of purity and a small portion of corruption, it can be balanced so purity and corruption are equal.

Acting
balance good and evil actions for yourself and ensure you do not do too much of either one, watch and inspire belief from afar, inspire not just belief but also fear and awe by your actions

Maxim - fear and awe are merely forms of belief, but they must be balanced with true belief and reverence

Ritual Essence
doing this during an unnaturally generated hurricane means that it is an upset from the norm. This means it serves as a conduit for the Concordia ability, the hurricane calming a bit before it is disturbed by Discord, kicking back up. The abilities rush to right what’s wrong, and thus righten and then stir up the hurricane rather than the potion that the user is digesting which would make them lose control.

Abilities

Discord - the ability to upset the calmness and stability of nature
• this can cause fierce winds in the area

Concordia - the ability to calm nature
this can calm storms and minor earthquakes
• At the same sequence, Concordia is more powerful that Discord

Strengthened Abilities:
Stir - they are able to use the ability on strangers, able to guide what the opponent feels.
• The emotions that the user can stir are: loyalty and awe
•The loyalty is only towards the user

Words of Cause - they can now use it to influence believers away from an existing deity and towards themselves

Equalising - they can now affect spirits and souls with the ability.

Face Amongst the Crowd - they can now pray to the deity to gain charms. Depending on the intelligence and authorities of the god, they could go unnoticed. At this level, they can take a very minor portion of the god’s prayers and use those prayers and the anchors to funnel a portion of the deity’s power.
- this cannot do anything beyond what a Beyonder on the pathway of that deity at the user’s current sequence is capable of. And it is an easily noticeable act, even by mad gods.

Acting
Act as descendants of gods, tell the truth, twist the truth, be polite, bring people in with a smile and slowly indoctrinate them

But, in other news, I’m quitting the rp, because I simply cannot any more. So, I’ll be posting all the various posts I had planned for the rp over the next week or so. Maybe I’ll join it again in the future, idk.

General
Hades is the king of the Underworld and god of the dead. He presided over funeral rites and defended the right of the dead to have a burial.

He was also the god of the hidden wealth of the earth. This includes fertility related aspects like grains and seeds but also mineral aspects like gold and silver. His fertility aspects comes from his release of Persephone which signalled the end of winter.

Hades also held dominion over the oracles of the dead. This includes necromancy, the summoning of ghosts to ask for answers. The Oracles of the Dead (Nekromanteion) in Thesprotia and Kyme were shrines dedicated to Hades and Persephone. Amphiaraus and Trophonios were also necromantic in nature. Thesprotia was the main place of cult worship for Hades. He was not an often worshipped deity.

Hades was also seen as a god of curses as the most potent curses invoked the Erinyes who he commanded. Because of the correlation with curses, he is invoked in oaths, the connotation being let me be cursed if I dare to break the oath.

Hades was also seen a Master of Dreams. This is because the two gates of dreams, one truthful and the other false, lay within the Underworld. He is often associated with dreams sent by ghosts. Thusly, he seen as the master of the oneiroi, dream spirits, who were his attendants.

Hades was depicted as a dark-bearded, regal god. He was depicted as either Aidoneus, enthroned in the underworld, holding a bird-tipped sceptre, or as Plouton (Pluton), the giver of wealth, pouring fertility from a cornucopia. The Romans named him Dis, or Pluto, the Latin form of his Greek title Plouton, "the Lord of Riches."

His name typically means unseen or invisible. This could be related to his helm which is said to make the wearer invisible, even to the gods, which later traditions ascribe to being made by the Cyclopses. He was a feared god in Ancient Greece. People typically did not speak his name, hence why people called him Pluton.

Hades rules the Underworld, having drawn that lot when the three brothers, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, drew lots to determine where they shall rule. However, both earth and Olympus belong to all three brothers in equal.

However, within his kingdom, he is mostly unaware of what happens above. It was only the oaths and curses of man that reached his ears.

When mortals invoked him, they struck the earth with their fists and often, in rituals, used black male and female sheep.

Hades wielded a staff which he used to control and drive back spirits and shades. He rides a golden chariot drawn by four immortal black horses. He was also said to have herds of oxen which were tended to by Menoetius, one of Hades’ attendants.

He also held a sceptre which could tear the earth open, creating a passageway between earth and the land of the dead.

Hades had his palace and throne within, both of which were golden. Hades received the dead in his throne, attended to by the Three Judges as he assigned the dead their afterlife.

Other attendants of Hades included the Keres, daemons of violent death as well as the Erinyes, Charon, who ferried souls across the Acheron River, Thanatos, god of death, and the personifications of the Rivers of the Underworld.

The gates of the House of Hades are locked to prevent souls escaping. Hades or his doorman, Aeacus, one of the three judges, kept the keys. The gates were also guarded by Cerberus, a big three headed dog with a serpent’s tail, a mane of snakes, and lion’s claws.

Hades also grew an orchard of pomegranate trees in which he got the pomegranate to feed to Persephone. This was attended to by Ascalaphus, the orchadist, who in one telling, testified against Persephone saying she ate food of the Underworld and was turned into a screech owl by Demeter. The screech owl is one of Hades’ sacred animals. His sacred plants were mint, cypress, white poplar, and asphodel.

Myths
Hades was the first born son of Rhea and Kronos and was swallowed upon birth. He was then puked up. He joined his siblings in war against the Titans. They freed the Cyclopses and Hades was given his helm of invisibility as payment. The gods emerged victorious and the three brothers drew lots to determine where they would rule, to which Hades got the Underworld.

It is said that when Zeus and Typhoeus were exchanging blows that, “Hades trembled where he rules over the dead below.”

It was by Zeus’ command that the judges of the Titan era were replaced by dead people, Zeus’ sons. Aeacus trials those from Europe, Rhadamanthys trials those from Asia, and Minos is the ultimate judge for when those two cannot decide.

Hades kidnapped, by Zeus’ help or allowance, Persephone and made her his bride. He ignored Demeter’s demands for her daughter back. Once Zeus was forced to acknowledge the demand due to Demeter causing winter and famine everywhere, Persephone was tricked by Hades into eating a pomegranate which forces her to remain part of the year with him. Hades then returned Persephone. The return of Persephone to the Underworld every year is what causes winter.

Hades is often regarded as an infertile god, seeing as he is a lord of the dead. However, some myths to ascribe him the status of parenthood. The Erinyes (Furies) were sometimes described as Hades’ children. Zagreus, Macaria, and Melinoe are all also described as children of Hades. However, these are uncommon retellings.

Hades had some lovers. One such example was Minthe who was trampled by Persephone to become garden mint. Leuce was also a lover of Hades whom he had abducted and taken to Elysium. After her death, she transformed into a white poplar tree.

Hades also got involved in mortal affairs, usually when they came to him. When Orpheus came for his wife, Hades was moved by the music and pleas and told him to take Eurydice on the condition that he did not look back. Orpheus failed.

With Hades’ permission, Heracles took Cerberus for one of his labours. Heracles also battled Hades for the life of Queen Alcestis, who had agreed to die in place of her husband Admetus. Then during the Siege of Pylos, when Heracles was besieging the town, he injured Hades. It was likely that Hades was originally thought of as collecting the souls of the dead, but was, in later myths, seen as a protector of the town.

Hades was also tricked by Sisyphus who, upon dying after trapping Thanatos, instructed his wife to omit funerary rites so that Hades would release him back to the land of the living. He was later fetched by Hermes and taken to the Underworld.

Pirithous, a hero, along with Theseus, sought to make Persephone their wife. As punishment, Hades forced them into a stone chair for eternity. Theseus was later freed by Heracles. Heracles tried to release Pirithous but decided not to when the earth shook when he did try.

Asclepius was a son of Apollo who was so good at healing people that he could bring people back from the dead. Hades took Asclepius up against this and brought him before Zeus who slew Asclepius.

Hades and Persephone also caused a city, Thebes, who weren’t burying the dead to be cursed with a plague. Upon the sacrifice of two willing maidens, the plague was averted and by the favour of the two deities, the maidens were transformed into comets.

History
For a historical perspective, Hades is unique. This is because we have no place for him prior to Ancient Greece. Most of the Greek gods can be traced into Mycenaean religion, some into Minoan religion. This includes Persephone. However, her husband, Hades, cannot be found. It is likely that he was either imported from a foreign country during the Greek Dark Ages or was carved off of a deity during the Dark Ages. The likely options are either Zeus or Poseidon.

Of course it is entirely possible that Hades did exist prior to the Dark Ages and had no records, but it is unknown. He could have also been a minor deity or a local deity somewhere that rose to prominence during the Dark Ages.

But it is simply unknown where Hades came from.
