FTR this isn't shade to Fortnite but I'm genuinely curious on any franchise so obscure it has ZERO crossover appearances & I'll start with a DS game only 10 people know including me, Sands of Destruction

I’m going to be direct.

I have nothing against people enjoying the 2012 gag dub. If you find it funny, that's your choice. What I object to is the increasingly common attitude that the 2012 version somehow defines YooHoo & Friends, while the original 2009 series is dismissed as boring, inferior, or something that only exists for the gag dub to make fun of.

That attitude deserves to be challenged.

1. “2012 is better because it’s funnier.”

Being funnier does not automatically make something better.

The 2009 series was not trying to accomplish the same thing. It was a sincere children's adventure with its own atmosphere, world and characterization.

The 2012 version deliberately changed that approach.

That's an adaptation choice — not an objective improvement.

If you prefer the comedy of 2012, fine. But “I enjoy this more” and “this is objectively better” are not the same statement.

2. “The 2012 personalities are the real personalities.”

They're the personalities of the 2012 adaptation.

That's it.

A reinterpretation can change a character without erasing the characterization that existed beforehand.

YooHoo, Pammee, Lemmee, Roodee and Chewoo already had established identities before the gag dub.

You don't get to rewrite the history of a franchise simply because the later interpretation became more popular in an online community.

3. “2009 is boring.”

You're allowed to find it boring.

But that's not a criticism of its execution by itself.

If you expect a gentle adventure series to behave like a parody comedy, of course you're going to find it slow.

The 2009 series has a different purpose and tone. It focuses much more on exploration, friendship, nature and its own fantasy setting.

Disliking that style is completely legitimate.

Pretending that the style itself is evidence of bad writing isn't.

4. “Nobody remembers 2009.”

Some people don't.

Others do.

I do.

And so do plenty of people who encountered the franchise before the 2012 adaptation became an internet curiosity.

A later wave of popularity doesn't retroactively determine which version mattered to everyone.

For some people, 2009 is not “the version before 2012.”

It's simply YooHoo & Friends.

5. “The gag dub made the franchise relevant.”

Maybe it introduced some people to the franchise.

That's fine.

But giving an adaptation credit for bringing attention to something doesn't mean the original should be disrespected.

You can acknowledge what 2012 contributed while still recognizing that the franchise existed independently of it.

One does not have to erase the other.

6. “You're only defending 2009 because of nostalgia.”

Of course nostalgia is part of it.

I grew up with the original.

But nostalgia doesn't make someone's memories illegitimate, and it certainly doesn't give other people permission to mock them.

Everyone brings personal experience into the media they love.

The person who discovered 2012 through memes has their experience.

The person who watched 2009 as a child has theirs.

Neither experience needs to be erased.

What I actually want

I'm not asking anyone to hate 2012.

I'm not asking for it to disappear.

I'm not even asking people to like 2009.

I'm asking for a little intellectual honesty.

2012 is a comedic reinterpretation. 2009 is the original series.

They can coexist.

You can enjoy one, both, or neither.

But I don't think it's reasonable to take the version that deliberately changes the tone and characterization of the original and then use those changes as evidence that the original was somehow inferior.

That's backwards.

And honestly, seeing the 2009 series increasingly reduced to “that boring version” or “the one before the funny dub” is frustrating for those of us who genuinely loved it.

I don't need everyone to agree with me.

I don't need everyone to suddenly become a 2009 fan.

I simply want the original to be discussed on its own terms, rather than constantly being measured against a parody-style adaptation that was designed to do something completely different.

So enjoy the 2012 gag dub.

Laugh at it.

Make memes about it.

But please stop pretending that its popularity somehow invalidates the original.

For some of us, YooHoo & Friends was already meaningful long before 2012 entered the picture.

And no amount of memes is going to change that.

This is one of my favourite films of all time.

Jimmy and Kara altho they still might end up together i got tired of them basically dancing around each other.

Numbuh 1 and Numbuh 362 seemed perfect together and much better than his actual gf Lizzie

Jaden and Alexis seemd good together and it seemed like she was gonna confess but backed out.
